Going back over threads ( 2012 ) there are so many conflicting stories concerning Crispy though one post was enough for me when it said that in AE's 1991 ? statement she naturally made JB look the monster by blaming him alone for having the dog put to sleep.

Other posts mention that JB had asked AE to ring the vet.

He’s a cruel evil scumbag, the day after the murders he puts the poor dog down, it’s a shame he was never put down!

As far as I know it was Junes dog and nobody wanted it. So what else can you do?
