Anyway, wouldn't the racket of two dogs barking in the night during a potential break-in have alerted Nevill who would have been at the ready with a rifle ?

That's why I don't think Bamber broke in.

Crispy would still have barked. Those dogs can hear a pin drop and besides the fact that the dog didn't like him it would have had hold of his foot/ankle if he'd attempted to have got through a window. Either way the household would have been disturbed.

Jeremy spent a lot of time at WHF - you talk as if when he entered the house, he had to fend the dog off. Rubbish! There was a claim that it bit him once, that that it hunted him down at every given moment.

Whe I said he didn't break in, I mean I believe he came back before they were all asleep.

Was Crispy put in a seperate room at night? Dogs often have their own kennals in small rooms. WHF was big enough.

I'll believe what I believe and that is that he never returned that night.

Spot on JR - if the dog didn't like him, it had reason. Poor Crispy - another victim.
The way I see it Caroline, it’s a way for bringing Anne into another of Jeremy’s doings, the blame game, Anne’s fault Crispy was got rid off, yea right!

As his mothers dog, it was Jeremy's responsibility but as usual, he just flacked that off to someone else.

Maybe it would have been a give away if he hated the dog and Sheila was fond of the dog? We cannot lose sight of the fact Bamber inflicted the shots and Bamber called the shots after the murders.  For a dog to hate a family member, one that’s been in the household that long, it’s got to be for a reason, dogs are easily won over with love affection and treats, they don’t forget mistreatment though.

I don't think the dog can be said to hate one family member - I think it was Colin who actually said  the dog was known generally for nipping ankles - posters are reading too much into this I think

It would help if you established the fact first.

it maybe that poor neville did not respond in time,or crispy only alerted when jb was at the stairs, who knows ,did he make some remark about crispy when talking with officers once they had told jb the family was dead

It's not that Jan, it#s like no matter what - there is always an excuse for Bamber. Even Colin is now being used - seriously, not cool.
