Hi sami think one of the dogs (Bruce I think is the name) was kept outside in a shed for the night you would think he would have barked if JB was breaking into the house x
bruce may not have barked as he was jb,s dog he may have remained calm, but little crispy inside the farm may have barked and alerted neville,i say this cause my rotti one night about 1am started barking and heading for the back door to the garden i went out and sure enough 30ft at the bottom of the garden is my shed ,a roma gipsy was already over the wall by the time i got there, didnt nick anything had no time thanks to my rotti

No. If Bruce supposedly belonged to Jeremy, he wouldn't have barked at him " breaking in " as he'd have known who it was !

yes i agree.if it was jb than iam sure crispy would have alerted maybe not while jb was outside the house but once inside the sixth sense would have kicked in maybe the reason why neville was out of bed

Crispy was a dog which would have barked at anything or anyone, Bruce was not, being a gun-dog anyway.

It depends what their state of health is imo.  I have seen people keeping very old animals alive when they are obviously unwell and in pain, think that is cruel.  I remember ngb stating it was Ann Eaton’s decision to have Crispy put down, true Jeremy did not want him as it’s said they didn’t get on and Crispy was snappy and bad tempered but he did not choose to have him put down.  Following from that, it does seem a bit strange Jeremy killed 5 members of his family but not the dog he disliked.
Maybe it would have been a give away if he hated the dog and Sheila was fond of the dog? We cannot lose sight of the fact Bamber inflicted the shots and Bamber called the shots after the murders.  For a dog to hate a family member, one that’s been in the household that long, it’s got to be for a reason, dogs are easily won over with love affection and treats, they don’t forget mistreatment though.

RJ you don't have to hate or mistreat a dog for it not to " take to you ". A dog can also smell fear in a person and that being the case for reasons only known to the animal, it'll bite. Jeremy may have been wary of it snapping at his ankles, you don't know. Smaller dogs are the worst for attacking.

Spot on JR - if the dog didn't like him, it had reason. Poor Crispy - another victim.

Anyway, wouldn't the racket of two dogs barking in the night during a potential break-in have alerted Nevill who would have been at the ready with a rifle ?

That's just not true Lookout - I have had dogs all my life and some people have been scared because they just don't like or aren't used to dogs - never had one bite anyone.
