Why shoot the dog, he wasn’t going to inherit anything?

No, but it would have been running around the place scared/whining as well as snapping at his ankles as it did, which is why he hadn't liked it.

Or probably cowering under the bed?

That would have happened when the raid team hammered the door down. That alone would probably have wakened the dead ! ( pun )

No, it was AE who wanted the dog to be put down as she didn't want it anyway.

The dog didn't belong to AE, it was Jeremy.

Re Maxine Carr, she gave Huntley an alibi without knowing that he killed those little girls. According to Julie, she knew Jeremy had killed his family.
She actually said in her statement that after the early-morning telephone call she went back to bed and realized that Jeremy had just told her that all his family was dead.

It depends on what exactly he'd said to her at that time-----that we don't know about because a lot of what she'd said was indeed questionable and we'd might have learned more had she not had an attack of the vapours when being questioned by JB's defence.

OK, and then she covered up for him. Maxine Carr was charged because of the wasted time looking for the killer. If Julie had told the truth, maybe so much evidence wouldn't have been destroyed.

Ah but there was no dangling carrot in exchange for the truth.

Would they have got much more forensic evidence in that scenario?

I think so. That's not really the point though is it? Julie allowed everyone to be misled. Why then was she not charged with perverting the course of justice like Maxine Carr was?

Because JM was immune from telling the truth.

Maxine Carr was convicted because she provided a false alibi for Huntley.

She was convicted of perverting the course of justice, so why wasn't Julie? Julie protected Jeremy. Isn't that assisting an offender?
