There is already a thread about why Bamber chose to use a proxy after Julie asked him if he did it. It's a common sense move by him.

There are several reasons why Matthew Macdonald was the chosen proxy -

Bamber knew MM.

Julie knew Bamber knew MM.

Bamber  confirmed in his police interviews there were many rumours about MM.

Bamber would have told Julie about the MM rumours.

Julie may have heard from other people about the MM rumours.

Julie had met MM very briefly, so knew he was a real person.

MM was not going to be part of Bamber's jolly up crowd after the massacre.

Bamber told Julie MM was going away after the massacre. This would be believable as after the massacre & while with Julie, he could easily avoid MM.

There was no way Julie could locate MM.

Julie barely knew MM so could not have an opinion on whether MM was capable of committing the massacre.

Julie would not know MM's location or movements on the massacre night. And would not be able to find out.

When asked,  MM said he did not know who Julie Mugford was. If Julie approached the police, MM not knowing Julie would support his stance that he did not know Bamber very well.

MM lived in the area. Rather than being a London friend of Bambers.

MM had been to WHF before. Where he met Bamber & Julie.

Bamber's friends who he would engage with after the massacre would not know MM.

Bamber's remaining relatives did not know MM.

The other people Bamber had introduced Julie to over the previous 18 months, Bamber wanted to keep in contact with after the massacre. Intially while still with Julie. So were not proxy material.

The other people Bamber had introduced Julie to in the previous months, Julie knew too well & would know they would not make plausible multiple killers. So not proxy material.

Bamber couldn't make up a non existent person. Otherwise Julie would not believe him.

Bamber didn't have any other options. He needed a plausible proxy who Julie barely knew but who neither of them would see after the massacre - MM.

You forgot one, Bamber didn't like MM because he had a bit of a fling with on of his ex's.

What is needed now is an alternative better individual who could have been used as a proxy.

Who -

Julie barely knew.

Had a reputation.

Who Bamber could convincingly tell Julie was disappearing after the massacre.

Would not try to engage with Bamber after the massacre.

Who lived in the area.

Who had been to WHF.

Who Bamber could avoid after the massacre.

Who Bambers other friends didn't engage with.

Who the remaining relatives didn't know.

Who Julie couldn't locate.

Who was a plausible hit man to Julie. Due to rumours & Julie barely knowing him.

                                  --------------------

Hopefully supporters today will submit more suitable proxy option individuals available at the time to Bamber.

I have asked Nugs on another thread who a better proxy would have been for Bamber, instead of MM. As predicted I have had no response.

It would at least put doubt into Julie's WS if Bamber had better proxy options.

Nugs is still saying RB knew MM.Why ? Because there is no proof he didn't !

And is also saying RB used telepathy to convince Julie MM committed the massacre.

There is no evidence RB had telepathic skills.  This would also be risky of RB as Julie was still Bamber's girlfriend & could warn him.
