Absolutely,ngb,that's exactly what I thought too. He's playing the victim very well,I thought.

He is.  He is presenting himself as simply an incompetent police officer out of his depth on the day, in order to try to deflect the far more serious and criminal allegations against him.  He is doing this on legal advice.

No disrespect but what is that meant to mean?  Momentous for whom?

It is a big step forward but nothing is momentous until the verdicts are announced.

Well you your self described it as a massive massive admission.  Maybe momentous was the wrong choice of description.
