The burning WHF down option:
« on: January 03, 2015, 10:03:PM »
Not only did Julie say one plan Jeremy had was burning WHF down, but he also told Chris Marsden in December 1984 - 'If the house burnt down with everyone inside,  everything would be mine.

Was it a good idea ?

Good points :

Well it's less gruesome than shooting everyone in the head.

He could collect on the insurance.

He would not have to ring the police, rounding the suspects to two.

He would not risk having to confront an awake adult inside WHF.

Bad points :

Julies sleeping tablets were not strong enough. Something stronger would require a medical prescription. Which may come back to haunt him.

It was a big house which would have been hard to burn down. Especially from one cigarette.

It was a big house. Surely there were escape routes and attempted escapes. But everyone would have been lying on their beds, having been drugged.

The insurance for the house and items inside may have been low.

It may have been hard to get the insurance money. They may suspect arson.

If the insurance company suspects arson. So would the police. Jeremy would automatically become the main suspect.

He could not insinuate Sheila.

Following on from the random stranger/ burglar threads, it does seem that Bamber's best option was the one he chose.

Do you think burning WHF down was a better option than a massacre/frame ?

Adam - did Charles Marsden give evidence in court?

What was his connection to Julie?

He was Jeremy's friend from the 'Frog and Beans'crowd. No real connection to Julie.

The police asked Jeremy about this. He denied saying this.

There is no record of Marsden testifying.

I thought he was the boyfriend of one of Julies friends ?

If he had been a reliable witness don't you think the prosecution would have used him?

So if he did not give evidence what is the source of this accusation?

The source is Wilkes's 5 star acclaimed book. But perhaps Wilkes made it up  ;D. And used someone's name who could easily refute it.

He may have testified there is just no record of him doing so. He would be testifying about a crime Bamber did not do - arson. So may have been considered not needed.

Not at all it would be very relevant and I am sure the prosecution would have used him . check your book - perhaps he did give evidence . And check his connection as well .

Why don't you buy Wilkes's book ? Going for less than £10.00p.

Why don't you buy colins?

I am asking questions about your thread . If he gave evidence or if there is a copy of his statement I am interested in reading it.

Could be.

I think from one of your old posts he was friends with Liz and Julie as well - something to do with computers? And he got to know JB as well. they once took two girls back to Jeremys house when they both had girlfriends?Although JB denied Charles caught him in bed with one of the girls.

But I think looking at previous posts he was interviewed but his evidence was not used in court.

That rings a bell - there is so much info, you tend to forget things.
