What led (the police?) to think this, & why did they change their minds?

I think the Police may have struggled with the shot between the eyes and then putting the gun on top of Sheila.

I just seem to have a very vague recollection of reading something at the time.
It was alluding to June's religious mania.
Not possible then, if she acted alone.

Newspapers reported that June had killed everyone, which was posted shortly after the killings were discovered...

I'm still curious as to what lead the police to say June did it, & when they said it. After all, it was a murder suicide from the get go, wasn't it???
Did the police ever say it, or was it just wild  unfounded tabloid media speculation?
