Well, police radio logs confirm a female body was found in the kitchen upon entry (7.37am), also that by 7.45am police were were dealing with two dies (7.41am), a murder and a suicide. Then at (8.44am) Sheila's body is on the bed, or if you want "on the far side of the bed", which by the time "Taff" Jones and DC Clarke arrive at the scene (9.05am) Sheila's body is on the bed with Junes. Clarke leaves the scene to go to Jeremy's cottage, where he recounts to AE that bodies were found on bed. Meanwhile, back at the scene police who were carrying out a training exercise with the bodies still in situ, moved the bodies from the bed to the bedroom floor. Niether Clarke who was at Jeremy's cottage, nor the relatives knew that police had moved the bodies from the bed, at the time the bodies were moved, they did not learn about the movement of the bodies until later. By then of course, SOC were handed back control of the scene (10am) by which stage Junes and Sheila's bodies were already moved from the bed to the floor. The bodies were placed there by police officers egaged in the aforentioned training exercise. At this point, PC Bird started to take photographs of the bodies in the positions the bodies had been moved into by the police during the training exercise. The rifle which WPC Julia Jeapes had seen leaning p against the bedroom window before the raid team entered the farmhouse, was then put on Sheila's body in various positions. These photographs were then shown to members of the raid team at a debriefing held at Witham police station later that same evening, and they were instructed by senior officers to write up their notes on the basis that they had been dealing with four murders and a suicide, and that the position of the bodies shown to them in PC Birds video at the debriefing should be how the bodies had been found upon entry - which became a bone of contention for PS Adams, who raised objections with the senior officers about this, but they ordered him to toe the line...
It should be pointed out that at this stage police did not anticipate arresting anyone else in connection with the shootings, and this should be borne in mind when a month or so later Jeremy Bamber became the focus of attention, under an investigation led by the relatives friend DCS "Mick" Ainsley...
