But how can Jackie attack Keira so openly, so many times and not get action taken agianst her or at least get told off by a mod on the open board like I always do? I'm not on a warning and she is....yet I'm now in trouble for apparently deleting a post.

Which is something Rochford had already dealt with by telling Jackie to take it via pm.

I understand and agree with the first part of your post Grahame.  As far as the part highlighted in blue is concerned I assume your refence to the admin is a reference to me.  I was not online yesterday evening when all of this blew up, so I was not in a position to take any action.  I am this morning catching up with posts. I will then be making some enquiries in order to decide what to do next.  I will certainly as you suggest be splitting this thread and moving a number of posts to Off Topic.

It is dificult to know what to do in situations such as this when insults have been hurled and responded to.  Any action against a member will result in howls of protest and complaints that similar action has not been taken against others.  I have to protect members from abuse but I also have to protect the forum.  Sometimes letting things blow over may be the best course, even where firm action could easily be justified.  I know some disagree with my approach to moderating the forum but other more robust approaches in the past have not achieved positive results in my view.  If I accepted the advice I have frequently be offered several members would now be banned and I suspect others would then have left in protest.  I can only do what I believe is right in the circumstances and I will continue to do that until Mike tells me that he is not happy with my approach.

NGB,

A quick response because I'm in my office.

As you know, I emailed you and Rochford yesterday evening - I also emailed Grahame - regarding the - alleged -pm that Mat had posted to the main forum. I have given you an open invitation to read through my pms so that you can see for yourself every communication I had with Mat prior to Mat's post. I have been completely transparent in my response to this because I had not (and have not subsequently) made any deals of any kind with Mat.

I do not accept that Mat made that post in error, I believe it was deliberately constructed and deliberately posted in an attempt to discredit me and to cause chaos on the forum. As such, I believe that Mat should be banned. At the very least he should be subject to a temporary ban.

You have stated that it's difficult to know what to do when "insults have been hurled and responded to".

Jackie repeatedly attacked me yesterday with 15 poisonous posts, each of which was a complete fiction from end to end.

Jackie accused me of carrying on with Mat, of giving Mat the personal details of all our members to help him to persecute them, of doing deals with Mat to help him sue members, of betraying Grahame, of being old enough to be Mat's grandmother, of failing to mod Mat (I twice temp banned him!) and of going over to the guilty side. Each of these claims are complete fabrications: lies.

I responded with just one post:

"I wish you would give us all a break by getting the therapy you so badly need, Jackie. I can't even feel angry with you, I feel sorry for you."

This is not about 'insults hurled and responded to'. I did not hurl any insults. Jackie was the only one doing that. This is about giving Jackie a clear warning that she must make no more of the poisonous attacks she repeatedly makes on so many of our members.

I therefore believe that Jackie should be banned - at the very least she should be the subject of a termporary ban.

I have pm'd Mat information that Hartley has posted to the forum about himself which basically reveals who he is. I've pm'd Mat that Hartley and Vic are related in my opinion. But that's about the sum total of my 'offences' here. I have on many occasions discussed this case with Mat by pm and have attempted to explain to him why I believe Jeremy is innocent and that Jeremy did not have a fair trial. That's what most of my pms to Mat were about.

Keira, you don't have to say anything that we've talked about via PM on here. Just because you get attacked doesn't mean you have to say what we've been discussing.

If swapping PM's means we're having a fling, then so be it!

Rochford and I have considered very carefully how we should deal with this situation.  It is unacceptable for the forum to be disrupted in the way in which we have seen too often of late.  I know I have been criticised, probably with justification, for my belief that a light touch in moderation is preferable.  I have very rarely banned any member and I only censor posts where I feel there is no alternative.

Reluctantly we feel that there is no alternative to taking firm action now.  We have made it clear that we will be even handed and fair to all members, whatever their viewpoint.  We have decided to impose temporary bans on both Mat and Jackie.  Mat's ban is not just the result of the events of yesterday evening (with the deception concerning his post being an aggravating factor), it is based upon our assessment of his conduct on the forum generally, including PMs which he has sent.  In Jackie's case she has been warned repeatedly about aggressive posts and Rochford appealed for restraint before he logged off yesterday evening.  Jackie's posts directed at Keira were offensive and simply unacceptable.

I hope that this will enable tensions to die down.

Thank you, NGB and Rochford. This is a very fair decision.

This was carefully considered, just as ngb has stressed above.  It is not possible to keep everyone satisfied about what action should be taken and which forum member it should be taken against.  In my opinion Mat's conduct is not open or clear.  There has been a deliberate attempt cause disruption, sometimes in a quite devious manner.  It is not clear what Mat's motives are.   Jackie's attack on Keira upon the open forum, was totally unwarranted.   The bans are temporary, as stated.

I for one am totally behind Keira, and do not believe in any wrongdoing. I have found Keira most helpful.
She is a very knowledgeable person.
It unkind to attack her in this way.

Jackie has fallen out with a few people including me a couple of times. But I do urge her to apologise to Keira who is totally innocent of any wrong doing.

I agree tyler, his one aim was to cause as much trouble as he possibly could and boy did he succeed.  Like you, I wish his ban was permanent, he had certain people in his sights and you could watch him go for them, step back try again.  He was quite good but not good enough.  He'll come back and cause trouble again.

Grahame, you saw it. He was insinuating that Keira was behaving in a certain way with him.  It all came from mat and his manipulating to make it appear keira was on his side and plotting with him against jackie which obviously upset jackie because she thought keira was her friend and she had betrayed her.  Keira just got caught up in his scheming. :( : :(
