I suppose if you are a Londoner on a day out you would say so. But the first time I went to Cornwall my friend used to say, "Don't let the pixies get you". In other words once you've been to Cornwall in the summer then you would not want to leave. It was so much so that one time we looked for a house there so we could move down there.
Then we went in the winter time. Different place altogether. Everything is grey and overcast even the building. So I should suppose that on the whole the best place to live is the place where you live? I have never forgotten the old saying, "The grass is always greener on the other side". Well all sheep think so. Until of course their noses touch the electric fence.

Grahame, you are so right about Cornwall!
I was born and grew up there - the Summers were
magical and the Winters the bleakest! ;)

Summer
Yet there is something dramatic about those powerful lashing waves. It subdues our human pride in some wat and puts us in our place. Believe it or not the best time to go to Ireland to view the waterfalls is when it's raining. The Irish are used to it. When it is raining they say, "Tis a soft day".

When I joined the army I was first posted to Taunton in Somerset. We often went to Dartmoor for training. I loved the place, but it was always p****** down.
I suppose it is up to the individual how you view places.
As you may be aware I was also in Ireland for a time, and can only say that it is a beautiful place in regards to scenery. Don't be put off, I recommend you go there as you will never see a greener place, and in the main nice people, mind you it P***** down there a lot as well.
Now I come to think about it the twats also sent me to Malaya, and yep you guessed it, it was P****** down. Must be the global warming.
