No, I have always felt a bit uncomfortable with it.  I know it has moved on a lot but I remember when I was a student in London I knew student Hooray Henrys getting tickets in the ballot and dressing up to go to the last night. It brought out the worst and was frankly embarrassing. I am sure it is different now and I do accept that the Proms is the biggest music festival in the world and very successful and democratic because tickets are available at a really good price.  I just avoid the last night because it makes me cringe.

Once you've seen one ending, you've kind of seen the lot. There's no doubt that some among the audience are raging empire supporters.
