If he became a suspect, what would Bamber be expecting to be confronted with -

Nevill's injuries.

Sheila's lack of injuries.

No damage to Sheila's nightdress.

June's bike.

Sheila's weapon experience.

Sheila's medical condition.

No alibi from Bamber.

This is assuming Julie did not turn.

The kitchen fight was not planned, but he must have known it would be immediately damaging.

There is a lot of evidence Bamber was not expecting. Which is worthy of another thread.

Bamber obviously thought this was not enough. He was on good terms with the police & had spent a long time insinuating Sheila.

He felt confident enough to commence his jolly ups.

His alibi would be of primary importance, hence the charade of the telephone call and the story he spun outside White House Farm to police, knowing full well all were dead within.

Pre massacre he would not have been expecting the kitchen fight to be an issue.

He had a ready made answer when the police asked him why Nevill didn't call them.

All of the above he was prepared to front it out. He kept in that mode when evidence he was not expecting surfaced.

How do you mean if he became a suspect? he had to assume he would have been a main suspect as there are only two possible anyway.

He could not have known beforehand that the Police would be convinced it was 4 murders and a suicide?

So many things could have gone wrong on the night that would have given the game away, then there was the advert he placed in the local newspaper!

It was the advert that caught me out, Rob.

I was convinced of Jeremy's innocence: sending him love letters on pink-scented paper, even singing his song in the shower, and then I found out about the advert.

I was crest-fallen, I don't mind telling you.  You can well imagine the scene, I'm sure: one day I'm whistling to Justice for Jeremy in my soapsuds, the next I'm all at sea.. But Adam picked me off the floor with his moral support.

Thanks QC, the advert puzzles me as well? perhaps Adam can explain this aspect of the case?

You are right. As with the caravan break in, telling Julie 'I will be the number one suspect but they will never be able to prove it'.

Pre massacre he had in mind what he would/may be confronted with after the massacre. He steeled himself for this believing it wasn't enough.

This mode did not change dispite the kitchen fight.

What is surprising is when evidence he was not expecting surfaced, he still did not give way. Although stopped being talkative to the police.
