Police suspected Relatives of contaminating silencer with blood

No sooner did the relatives produce the silencer (DRB/1) from the gun cupboard at whf, in September 1985, than EP were wanting to check their blood to see if it could have been contaminated by one of them using their own blood?

Blood groups obtained by police in connection with above:-

Robert Boutflour was discovered to have the exact same blood groups as Sheila Caffell - namely, A, PGM 1+, EAP BA, AK1 and HP 2-1...

Why should EP, as of 19th September 1985, suspect the relatives of deliberately contaminating the silencer with blood that may have come from one of them?

Hmmm. Clear that they did suspect that. If only they had had DNA testing back then.

We don't know if it was just a coincidence that Robert Boutflours blood groups turned out to be the same as those of Sheila?

What I mean is - the blood in the silencer (A, EAP BA, AK1 and HP 2-1) could have been Sheila's...

Not only that, but there is a good possibility that Sheila's blood did get into one of the silencers when it was attached to the .22 BSA air rifle that she was / could have been shot with whilst she was in the kitchen area...

Furthermore...

There is a possibility that one of the silencers was contaminated during unofficial test firings of the rifle with silencer attached, when control ammunition was fired through it...

Mike, only just got in so I am playing catchup.
Was it Robert who dismantled the silencer. If so is it not possible that during the process of dismantling the silencer he cut himself, and HIS blood got into the silencer.

Why did he dismantle the silencer in the first place.
Was he a bit of a boffin, and knew all about backsplatter.

Actually, David Boutflour does not say that he did dismantle the silencer, only that he tried to, but he failed because the end cap was screwed on too tightly...
