We can all make assumptions after a remark like that and I suppose the answer is down to whichever is your preferred stance on the case as a whole.
Being a " suspicious-minded " person,I think my answer to that would be obvious.
There are two ways in which to take the question. 1) That " settlement" would be straightforward. 2) That because Jeremy was alive, " plan B " would have to be established. In other words,it would HAVE to be him as the killer or bust !

AE asked the question before she could have known any of the details, for all she knew they could have been killed when Jeremy was there the previous day.

a bit pessimistic to think he was dead though or was it optimism.

Under normal circumstances you would,nugs. From then on after,things were far from normal.

If she was simply told that they were all dead, it's not so strange for her to ask it 'all' included Jeremy, given that he lived elsewhere. There is nothing suspicious about her asking that.
