I assume that "server" rather than "sever" was intended in the topic title.

Maybe it was a severe problem to the server where communications were severely severed?  ::)

Does anybody know how to spell pedantic?   ???

Caroline was entirely correct. Connection was severed, apparently by problems with the server which affected some of us more severely than others.

I'm not sure if pedantic is spelled H A R T E R S or A P R I L ???

Tell you what, next time the forum crashes in the early hours of the morning - why don't you sort it and then everything will be just peachy cream - 'I's dotted and 'T's all crossed  ::) ::)

I think Harters's post was aimed at Reader - who has just promoted himself to DCI in the Spelling Police!

Caroline I remember once Reader corrected Mason Doyle which I thought was so funny ;D ;D ;D

The 'sever' problem has now been rectified - please let me know about any other spelling atrocities because there just aren't enough hours in the day to fulfill my need to 'serve' on the important issues. For those who care the 'R' has been returned to it's rightful home, and we can all breathe easy again (phew!!)  ::) ::)

Do you think the DCI could spell Tolleshunt D'arcy ?

Has he spelled it wrong in the past? We must note these atrocities and make sure they are dealt with. We may not be the busiest forum on the internet but by god, we'll have the best spelling and grammar!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Perhaps we could activate a five minute ban for those who get it wrong ;D ;D ;D

I don´t want to start a whole new thread about this minor thing.
There is this tiny little thing which can probably can be easily solved.

In the header, far left top there is a "counter", today it says,

     10699Days
    Of Wrongful
   Imprisonment

The number, since it became a five digit number, ovrlaps the word "Days" - can this be fixed?

 ;D

For some reason for the past few months I have not been able to see the counter on the home page.  I think I will find it difficult to solve the problem but maybe Zosa can come to the rescue!

The overlap has been there for a long time and unfortunately can't be fixed because the little programme that runs the counter would have to be altered and as it's not something I developed, I can't amend it. Soz!

It isn´t a big thing, just, sometimes at first glance it looks like a four digit number because the D overlaps the last number.

Never mind, but thanks for having a look.  ;D

Is it held on another server and therefore can't be accessed? Sometimes these counters are.

Well, something odd, it seems to have been fixed but not by me :D. The guy who used to do the tech support told me not to touch it. Perhaps Mike know the creator of the counter and either fixed it himself or had them do it?

I have a modified counter that doesn't do that.

That doesn't do what? Overlap? Not sure what you mean by 'modified'?

OK, try this, press CTRL and the - (minus sign) button and let me know what happens. It will make the page smaller and should reduce the size of the counter and the overlap should go?

Aha! I pressed ctrl + and that did the job on this computer. Thanks Caroline. ;D

On my PC, using Chrome or Firefox, the final "1" of 10701 partially overlaps the "D" of Days. Using IE8, the entire message doesn't show ("Movie not loaded...") - I can detect that there is a box where it ought to show, but the box has no text in it.

Anyway, I downloaded the counter file and modified it to look as shown below. It now works on IE8 as well as my other browsers, but IE8 blocked it until I allowed it to run. That was due to a browser setting, but the "Movie not loaded..." condition seems to have a different cause that I can't identify. In all three browsers, using Ctrl with + or - changes the size of all the text without affecting the overlap.

Yes, we have already discussed this - see above.

Any idea why it's not showing at all in IE for some people?

Not yet. When I run it in IE I can see the counter, however, it remains overlapped. haven't had much time to look into it fully but hopefully this week should be better.
