The burn marks shown on the left (below) were produced by use of a guns barrel minus a silencer - when compared against photographs of the actual burn mars received by Ralph Bamber (shown right):-

Anyone could follow up on this with their own experiment. You just need a poker, thermometer, camera, and some skin.

Talking of guns, the one bullet that did not hit an intended target, where was that fired from ?
I suspect it was from the main bedroom. A head shot aimed at Neville, or even Sheila which missed. Or it could have been a stair shot which missed.

You hint at a poker being used rather than the muzzle of a gun stikes a chord with me. I together with others I'm sure do not think that the muzzle of a gun made those
marks on Ralph's neck? They do appear to have been deliberately made and are very black, as if the person who inflicted them wanted to cause injury and pain?
They do rather look more like marks inflicted by a poker that had been heated in a fire? I just cannot see that a gun could become that hot just by shooting a few rounds. Unless of course they were using a machine gun in the second world war against hundreds of enemy?

Hello Grahame
My take on this is the rifle end was heated in the Aga and I feel Ralph was dead when the wounds were inflicted. I cannot see Jeremy hanging around to do this can you.

Hi Susan. For the life of me I can't think why ANYBODY should do it?

Grahame to me I see it as an act of contempt and control it was not to inflict pain as I think Ralph was dead but it was to give the person doing it a feeling of now I'm in control. Just my thoughts really.

I have been wondering whether Nevill had some accident that had nothing to do with the killings, which caused those marks. Don´t have a clue what it might have been though.
Another thought, there are three burn marks. Is that significant, the number 3?

Hello Alias we discussed the three burn marks in depth and thought it had some religious connotation the three being significant. Like In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost I will have to look up the thread think lookout and april have more knowledge on this than me Not forgetting the 3 was written 5 times on the paper found upstairs.

Exactly. It has been discussed whether the twins or Sheila wrote that note. I think it was Sheila, the writing does not look like a six-year-old´s to me. Shizophrenics are known for having perceptions and making connections and patterns that do not exist in reality, but to them it makes sense.
