According to the contents of his witness statement, dated, 24th October 1985, DS Davidson took possession of exhibits PV/1 to PV/20, inclusive, from the pathologist Peter Venezis (7th August 1985, at 2.20pm)...

By 9th August 1985, police had separated the aforementioned exhibits into two different groups of exhibits, the first group thus sent to the lab' on 9th August 1985, the second group of separated exhibits was not sent to the lab' until 20th August 1985...

At the point of arrival at the Lab', if any of the packaging of any exhibit had been disturbed in this way, the exhibits in question should have been rejected by the lab' due to the risk of possible contamination, or interference...

To date, despite 28 years having elapsed since these matters arose, police and Lab' have offered no explanation for why the packaging of some of the crime scene ammunition had been disturbed or interfered with...

This is unacceptable...
