So, why wait six years before photographing the silencer at the heart of this case...

Photographs of the silencer were taken by EP on both 20/9/85 and 13/11/85. However, the silencer was in the custody of Huntingdon labs when these photos were taken, which seems a bit odd. Not sure whether this relates specifically to DRB1. Also strange is that the police request that the silencer is submitted to the lab on 20/9/85 (presumably after photographing it), yet it is already there :D

Different silencers, one sent to lab' on 30th August 1985 (DB/1) inside which was found blood and paint. Other silencer (DRB/1) not sent to lab' to be checked for blood and fibres until 25th September 1985 - it would be a very interesting exercise to compare the silencer photographed by DI Cook on 29th August 1985, against the photgraphs taken at the Lab', and against the one mentioned above...
Wonder which one has the shiny scratch mark along its side?
