Unfortunately Wullie Gage lost his last appeal. I don't know where he goes from here to be honest, but he will not give up his fight to prove his innocence, neither will his supporters. Wullie Gage was no angel but I think this is the reason why he was fitted up for this murder. Another case where the real killer has got away scot-free. This case was an embaressment to the police and politicians in Scotland and they wanted someone, anyone, in the dock, in the hope that the story would die down, IMO. The fact that they locked up an innocent man guaranteed that this case and the story behind it will not go away.

no he wasnt an angel but then most people arnt

Welcome to the truth. Much of the information that you are about to receive has already been reported in Scottish newspapers. The remainder is a collection of information obtained by us from numerous sources including the miscarriages of justice organisation: a private investigator, lawyers, journalists, independent witnesses and Willie Gage himself. The terrible situation surrounding the miscarriage of justice that Willie has suffered is very complex and has been going on for four years therefore we shall only provide you with a very condensed version. Please read on in order to see for yourselves why Scotland has the highest number of people per head in jail and yet also still has the highest murder rate and almost the highest crime rate out of every country in Western Europe. The following might give you a rough idea...
On the 3rd of March 2002 a 28 year old man called Justin Macalroy co-hosted a charity fund raising dinner for the Labour Party. Macalroy was in the company of a friend Frank Roy who is the Labour MP for Wishaw. Also present was Jack Maconnell the First Minister for Scotland and John Reid the (then) Secretary of State for Northern Ireland. Also present were various Special Branch bodyguards, senior police officers and a surveillance team from the Scottish Drugs Enforcement Agency who had Justin Macalroy under surveillance for the previous FOUR YEARS.
The SDEA had recently tailed Macalroy while he traveled to Estonia where he met some men who were then arrested while trying to smuggle a Multi-million pound consignment of Heroin back into Scotland from Estonia. Macalroy had been openly boasting about various meetings between himself and senior figures within the Russian Mafia. He claimed that he had previously traveled out to meet them and had also entertained them in a Glasgow hotel. The police "forgot" to arrest Mcalroy, and instead arrested two other men.
Four days after the charity dinner Justin Macalroy stepped out of his Mercedes jeep outside his house and was shot dead. The SDEA were asked why they had not witnessed or filmed the incident and they claimed that after FOUR YEARS of surveillance and despite Justin Macalroy's apparently serious criminal activities and associates, the SDEA had (48 hours before the assassination) suddenly decided that Macalroy was no longer of interest and that they had REMOVED THE SURVEILLANCE.
Jack Maconnell and Frank Roy were further embarrassed by the revelation that Justin Macalroy had slipped more than ten thousand pounds into the Labour party coffers during that charity dinner and in a poor attempt to hide the loot his mother's name was written beside three separate large amounts of cash with her surname spelled differently each time! It was bad enough for Frank Roy and Jack Maconnell that their friend Justin Macalroy had been a suspected gangster and heroin importer with links to the Russian Mafia but now they had over ten thousand pounds that they had not declared to anyone. In an amazing twist the secretary who worked in the Wishaw office (that is shared by Jack Maconnell and Frank Roy) was subsequently jailed for handling that money!
Frank Roy and Jack Maconnell were never punished. While it is clear that major heroin barons do amass millions of pounds, that money comes from ten-pound deals. Every tenner comes from someone finding their house burgled or some poor pensioner being kicked to death for her meager pension money. Is that the sort of money that the voters would expect their elected representatives to earn?
On the 2nd of May 2002, a full two months after Justin Macalroy had been murdered (it has been alleged by the solicitor Bob Kerr) that the MP for Wishaw Frank Roy was contacted by a certain person who was connected to Justin Macalroy.
Bob Kerr has claimed that one of the police officers who were involved in the murder enquiry told him that the MP for Wishaw Frank Roy had contacted a senior officer who was involved in the murder enquiry and somehow put pressure on the officer to make a bogus arrest in order that Justin Macalroy's case could be closed.
The very next morning an innocent man called William Gage was arrested and charged with the murder.http://s11.invisionfree.com/Creativewriters/ar/t2291.htm
-
Willie Gage was held in the hellhole Barlinnie prison for SIX HUNDRED AND NINETY THREE DAYS before his trial. So much for the presumption of innocence and the 110 day rule!

A man jailed for a gangland killing in South Lanarkshire has lost a legal bid to overturn his murder conviction.
William Gage, 40, was found guilty of shooting 30-year-old Justin McAlroy six times as he returned to his family home in Cambuslang in March 2002.
He was jailed for life and ordered to serve a minimum of 20 years in prison.
Gage has always protested his innocence and lost a previous appeal in 2006. His second was rejected at the Court of Appeal in Edinburgh.
Gage's latest appeal was referred by the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission, which investigates possible miscarriages of justice.
Drugs offence
Mr McAlroy was shot repeatedly as he returned home with his pregnant wife, Tracey.
Gage's trial heard the businessman was murdered outside his home, in Cambuslang's Acacia Way.
The court was told that Mr McAlroy had been leading a double life and had a conviction for a drugs offence.

While he appeared to be working in his family business, Mr McAlroy was also said to be mixing with drug dealers and heavily involved in the heroin trade.
Undercover police were said to have been keeping a watch on him for three years before his death.
His murder was supposed to have been ordered because he owed a drug debt of £50,000.
Gage's appeal sought to convince five judges at the Court of Criminal Appeal in Edinburgh that he did not get a fair trial and was the victim of mistaken identity.
Mr McAlroy was shot outside his home in Cambuslang
Gage also challenged claims that a burned-out Saab car, which prosecutors said was a getaway vehicle, was used in the shooting.
He also claimed that there were "substantial inconsistencies" in evidence about the clothing which was said to link him to the shooting by traces of DNA and firearms discharge residue.
Judge Lord Hamilton, sitting with Lords Reed, Carloway, Mackay and Nimmo Smith, rejected his appeal.
Their written ruling stated: "Qualitative criticisms can undoubtedly be made of the evidence in each of these strands but, when the evidence is looked at as a whole, the case against the appellant was, in our view, compelling."
They added that they were not persuaded the trial was unfair.
Innocence protested
The decision concluded: "In all circumstances this appeal must be refused."
After telling Gage his appeal had been rejected, there were shouts heard from the public gallery of "the fight goes on" and "keep your head up".
Speaking outside court, Gage's solicitor, Aamer Anwar, said: "For eight years William Gage has protested his innocence and we will continue to do so.
"He is deeply disappointed by the decision.
"Once we have an opportunity to read the judgment we will consider whether to seek an appeal to the Supreme Court."

Hi oncesaid I had never heard of this case until just this week. Is any headway being made regard an Appeal or has he had one and failed. Also has he got a good legal team.
The person who started the thread would be able to answer this for you accurately, but as far as I can remember he has had 2 appeals which were rejected. I am unsure as to what can be done now so hopefully we will be updated soon on this thread.

Susan, it is my understanding that this conviction was secured with circumstantial evidence alone, and the evidence presented at trial was laughable. I remember at the time that no one expected a guilty verdict, so it came as a bit of a shock. I would imagine that the case will work towards the Supreme Court or the ECHR, as that's the only options I can think of.
-
Hi oncesaid after reading the case it would appear all is not right and we have a serious miscarriage of Justice and I hope he can get a retrial I don,t think he has been in jail as long as Jeremy but one year is too long when you are innocent. :(
-
he was convicted of being a contract killer though the police produced no evidence of him being to kill the victim no evidence of who hired him.
they say he carried out a hit for somebody but seem to have no interest in who that somebody was.
-
its funny we all seem to know more about this case than the person who started the thread.
we all seem to have more intrest in this case than the person who started the thread.

lofl nugnug you are correct but the case does look interesting.
Having a look on the blog put up here and it says All new content about William Gage is being added to
http://www.justiceforwilliamgage.webs.com/
doesn't look like it has been updated recently though.
-
are thats the person who does that blog does other cases as well i think there busy on the nat frazer case at the moment.
-
Strange how nugnug seems to be annoyed at someone bringing a miscarriage of justice to light.
I have no new information to post, I linked you to the all the relevant websites to form an opinion and discuss amongst each other. What's the problem nug? Sorry I don't claim to know everything like you do with the Jodi Jones murder.
-
i wouldent expect you to everything nobody would.
but the trouble is you dont seem to know anything other than the guys name.

The victims wife identified William Gage in the dock at the trial and said she recognised his eyes, she will never forget the shooters eyes.
She had never once mentioned his eyes before, Willie doesnt have particularly distinctive eyes anyway.
All witnesses described the shooter as wearing a padded dark coat, this did not match the semi-burned clothing found in the car in Easterhouse... the police dressed a manequin in the clothing found in the car, and the victims wife also said it was what the shooter was wearing, even thought she had previously described the clothing completely differently.
Here is the dummy the police showed the victims wife.
i believe 2 seperate crimes happened that night, one in Cambuslang and one in Easterhouse, totally and completely unrelated. Willie may or may not have been involved in the crime in Easterhouse.
No CCTV cameras on picked up any white car travelling from Cambuslang to Easterhouse on the night of the murder.

if only you knew mate.

eye witnesses in cambuslang said they saw a white Maestro car, or perhaps a rover, white with a spoiler and a boot... something like this
(http://www.freewebs.com/justiceforwilliamgage/photos/Photos-from-the-case/Maestro.jpg)
the car abandoned in easterhouse later was this
(http://www.freewebs.com/justiceforwilliamgage/photos/Photos-from-the-case/saab.jpg)
police showed a picture of this car to witnesses and they said "that could be the car i saw"
highly suggestive from the police, same with the mannequin.
the man spotted fleeing into the white car in Cambuslang was described to have a fat face and short hair.
William Gage had long hair down to his back at the time of the murder
-
Hi FreeWillyGage just wondering what your opinion of the drugs surveillance team on the case.
-
ask yourself, would criminals abandon a car on a grassy embankment in a busy street infront of numerous flats and poorly attempt to burn it, and leave clothing in there, if it had been involved in a murder? I think not.
The police were called some 10 minutes after the car had originally been abandoned.
DNA matching Williams, was on a drinks bottle in the car, and also on the waterproof jacket.
there was minor traces of firearm residue on the clothing, but experts say not near as much as you would expect if someone had earlier fired a gun.
Willie denies any knowledge or responsibility of this car and says he was in Glasgows westend at the time of the murder, an alibi supported by his girlfriend.
-
the sentencing judge in the trial expressed his concerns over the guilty verdict and appeared to be directing the jury towards at a not-proven verdict.
-
Hi FreeWillyGage just wondering what your opinion of the drugs surveillance team on the case.
the victim, Justin McAlroy was under this surveillance for many months, he had contacts with figures in Glasgows underworld and was also in 50k debt. Jack McConnell was aware of all this even before attending a fundraiser at Justins dads club. McConnell signed a police warrant allowing them listen to phone calls. the drug agency visited jack just days before the dinner.
Police say they was no surveillance on the night of the murder due to being "short staffed"
-
FreeWillyGage that sounds very convenient to me short staffed indeed.
-
i dont like the way they can say someones a contract killer but offer no proof as to who hired them.
-
i dont like the way they can say someones a contract killer but offer no proof as to who hired them.
I suppose they can say whatever they like in a circumstantial case, when did the crown ever care about proof? What is laughable is that Willie Gage is supposed to have put six bullets into his victim. This is the same man who was convicted of armed robbery, years earlier. Did the jury hear that he wasnt armed with anything, and that he was the driver in the robbery?. His co-accused who was the gunman in the jewellery robbery was using a toy gun, not that that makes a difference if you are having one pointed at you.
If you were going to hire anyone for a gangland shooting would you not at least hire someone other than a person that had previous as a getaway driver?
Days before Justin was murdered, surveillance had halted. Who was the man who visited Justin, 4 days before his murder to “let him know that he was running out of time to pay the money up”.
-
he had no motive to kill just mcloy unless some paid him to do it and they have produced no evidence that anyone did pay him no large transfers into gages bank account no suitcases full of money nothing.
