Whiddon does not make a statement about when he took a silencer off the desk of DCI "Taff" Jones, at Witham police station, and went along to the force amoury to see if it screwed onto the end of the rifles barrel, even though photographic evidence exists to conform that this is/was precisely what he did, at a time when there was no exhibit label at all fixed to the silencer?
