Title: 'Farmers facing huge losses' - North Essex August 1985
Post by: sarann on July 02, 2011, 10:04:AM
I've found this article in the Essex County Standard (August 9) which illustrates the problems faced by farmers in north Essex.
It mentions gales and torrential rain over the last 2 weeks.

Crops which should have been harvested still in the fields suffering further damage with each new storm.

Wettest June for nearly 100 years and more heavy rain in July

Farmers face huge losses running into millions of pounds

August 30, 1985:
This year's harvest reminiscent of the worst harvest of this century. It occurred 27 years ago

Thanks for this, sarann, it's interesting and useful background material which helps us to envisage the condition of the fields and the sea wall path which JM claimed were Jeremy's route to WHF as well as the general conditions for farming.
