I will gladly be prosecuted for taking the photograph of Sheila Caffell's body laid on top of her parents bed with only a solitary bullet entry wound to her neck, no Bible on her chest, no rifle next to her body - this came about during one of my regular visits to Ewen Smith's Office in Birmingham, at a time when unbeknown to me, the CCRC had advanced to Ewen Smith a full unedited copy of the photograph albums showing images which had been taken at the scene by two different SOCO teams on that first morning of the police investigation..
What I did not know at the time, was that Ewen Smith had already applied to become a CCRC Commissionaire - I learned this from Jeremy, who had already lined up Giovanni De Stefano to take over control of his case, due to the fact that Jeremy thought Ewen Smith was not being honest with him. My recollection of that incident when I slipped the photograph of Sheila laid on the bed, was that Ewen had told me that the CCRC had forwarded him all 581 photographs on the understanding that Ewen would not divulge this information to anyone. The facts are that Ewen got his secretary to bring in a number of photograph albums, there were about 8 in total, and Ewen made his excuses and left me in the board room to browse through them! I randomly browsed through one crime scene photographic album, and then another, and so on and so forth...
As soon as I saw the photograph that I took, intending to provide it to Jeremy, came as something of a complete shock to me! As soon as I saw it, I knew it was an important photograph! I slipped it out of its clear view folder, into my works bag ( I was working as a vehicle Inspector / delivery driver at the time). I saw photographs of the anshuzt rifle set in different positions upon Sheila's body, than those which claimed to have been taken after police had supposedly found Sheila Caffell's body ( undisturbed). I am sorry to have to say, that the official Essex police line that Sheila's body had been found clutching the rifle, already shot twice - is complete fiction..
On the day I seized the said Crime scene photograph of Sheila Caffell's body that was laid on top of the bed in her parents bedroom, I was utterly convinced that it would lead to the immediate quashing of Bambers convictions - but...
