I strongly believe they were both sexually abused. However it isnt an excuse for cold blooded premeditated murder and fhe money factor ( lyle in particular) was a key motivation.

Suspect it was the usual family feuds within a rich family. The sons not doing enough & relying on the parents too much.

The brothers were 19 & 21 so could overpower there parents.

Seems the parents were ambushed while watching TV. Officers saying it was the worst crime scene they had ever seen.

The mother had to be killed to ensure the brothers inherited everything.

Lyle seemed to be ok mental health wise post the crime. Opening a chicken shop business, extravagant purchases. His strong personality was probably molded in the image of his father.
