I used to live next door but one to an Army Major who served in India and who also grew poppies for medicinal purposes ! In between working I used to go to his house and help him and his wife as they were both elderly. One of their friend's was a chemist who used to supply a morphine based painkiller to ease the pain which the old Major suffered.
This same man was also a gentleman who was popular, respected and well thought of in many walks of life.
Why must the growing of poppies be seen as a crime before you know the real reason ?
When attempts are being made to make it look like one BEFORE any other possible reason is given. However, HAD this been the legitimate reason for the -alleged- poppies to be grown, there'd have been no need to devote a field to their production -and risk supplying neighbouring counties- NOR would there have been the need for secrecy. I find it interesting that whilst Nevill's back problem is laboured here, not ONE of those I know, who knew him, have EVER made mention of his having a back problem. I would have thought at least SOME of those who'd known him and June for more than 30 years, would have known there was a problem.
