I was in Australia in 1982,September,October and November. When it was in the paper that Lindy was due at trial,I went and took an internal flight from Sydney where I was staying, to Darwin.I knew the poor woman was telling the truth, but nobody else in the courtroom did. Forensics, including one from here and had been wrong in their calculations by possibly following what the police had said about blood being found amongst clothing in their car. When tested again,it was said to have been copper-oxide from where the family resided there.
Prior to me going to Darwin,I visited Taronga zoo where there were dingos, and I love all animals, but those " dogs " were positively evil.
Eddie and his late wife,I'd met in a professional capacity while I was working at the hospital she had booked into to have her child. I'd been the last one to write my entry into her notes because it had been her final visit before the birth. She was 8mths gone at the time. Eddie worked in the other hospital a few miles from the one where I was.
They were a pleasant couple with wife Paula looking beautiful and radiant, perfectly dressed and no sign that there was anything amiss with either of them.It wasn't long after that, that I heard the sad news and couldn't believe either that Eddie had " murdered " her,or that she'd hanged herself.
Slowly, her past was filtering through, apart from the fact that she was a depressive which I'd known, there were past attempts on taking her own life. Then a boyfriend had been charged with the murder of a girl he'd been seeing while going out with Paula.
I actually knew that young man as he was training to be a hairdresser ( late 60's-70's ) but on my way to work one morning,he approached me covered in blood and my first thoughts were that he'd been in a fight, then he told me what he'd done,so I directed him to the local police station and told him to give himself up------------he did just that, without a choice really because I'd have reported him anyway. I don't know his whereabouts now as he'll have served his time.
Paula's diaries, which were produced 16 years later, told all there was to know about her state of mind and 3 years later,Eddie was released on licence, which still applies since 2010,so as regards the law, they haven't admitted the mistakes that THEY all made.
Again,I was in Australia during the Woodward case, but wasn't posting on any forum,or with Lindy, but because I'd followed the case in Oz,as soon as I returned home I wrote to Louise's parents giving them my support for their daughter.
The McCann case was on a forum and the constant barrage of verbal abuse was horrendous. Patti was on it for years with me and also another woman who I've kept in touch with for the past 10 years. Most on the forum believed that Madeleine had been murdered by her parents,so they followed Amaral and his cohorts.
What the McCanns did wrong was leaving the children, and for that will suffer their own life sentence until they die. They know that but didn't ask for all the threats and abuse that they got.
A cop also posted on the McCann forum. He too was suspicious about the parents. One day I mentioned the Eddie Gilfoyle case and he didn't post again.
