The 'I hate this place' scratch marks:
« on: November 09, 2016, 07:36:PM »
This was a trivial issue which has rarely been discussed on here. However it was amazingly one of Bamber's 15 grounds of appeal in 2002.

It is claimed the prosecution deliberately withheld a photo of this from the defence at trial. The COA disputes this happened. Anyway in 2002, Bambers team had somehow obtained this photo.

The COA says the photo would not have made a difference to the verdict.  They also say it was probably Sheila who scratched this.

I have no idea whether the prosecution withheld this. There was no reason for them to, as I agree with the COA that  it would not have influenced the verdict.

I disagree with the COA that it was probably Sheila who made the marks. It could have been Bamber or anyone else who had stayed in the property. This includes the twins, as the scratch marks were found in their room. The marks may have been created years beforehand, so of no relevance.

Do other people agree this ground was wasting the COA judges time ?

Yes in isolation, but it should have been put together with the Bernard Knight evidence, the "all people are bad and should be killed" remark and Sheila's medical notes, though as Sheila wasn't on trial there would have had to be some agreement to what extent they could accuse her of the crimes.

As for the twins, they were compliant at White House Farm, and not so messed up as Colin feared they might become that they would graffiti furniture in that way.

It's been said on here the twins hated visiting WHF. Seems like something a 6 year old might do. Or a much younger Sheila or Bamber.

Was the Bernard Knight and medical notes evidence submitted at the 1986 trial ?

I doubt a 6-year-old would use the words "this place", the demonstrative pronoun an adult would far more likely use. Bernard Knight testified at trial that it was not uncommon for suicides to ritualistically wash, which is what the Defence have to hang on to. Dr. Hugh Cameron Ferguson stuck to his notes that he thought it unlikely Sheila would kill her sons and father.

I've seen a photo of this, and I think the writing is too well formed to be a child's writing, more like an adult's.
So either Sheila or Bamber could have written it, or even a house guest in the past.

Hi Mendoza,

As a new poster would you please introduce yourself in the Foyer.  If you just write a few lines telling us what  stimulated your interest in the case and if you believe JB is innocent or guilty.

With thanks  Maggie. :)

I believe it was written by Sheila but some years before the murders.
