The other day I came across this published study from Forensic Science International. I found the conclusions very interesting. One man shot himself under the chin 7 times with the exact same type of ammunition and weapon as the Anschutz.

Influence of ballistic and autopsy parameters on the manner of death in case of long firearms fatalities from the Clinical Research Unit, Ambroise Pare´ Hospital

Concerning the number of shots,
previous series showed that multiple entrance wounds
suggested homicide When suicide, there is commonly
a single gunshot, but cases who fired more than once was not
infrequent in our study (about 11% of the suicide cases). Some
cases of suicide with multiple gunshot wounds have been
reported in the literature [18–26]. This is due to the fact that
immediate incapacitation occurs only if essential centers in the
CNS or upper cervical spinal cord are injured, rapid
incapacitation occurring when hits produce massive bleeding
(heart, major vessels)
[27–29]. In our study, all cases with
multiple gunshot wounds involved small caliber long arms
(0.22 rimfire),
which have a lower temporary
cavitation and less lethal effect than high caliber weapons. The
suicide case with seven shots included in our study
corresponded to a 50-year-old man who fired himself in the
under chin area 7 shots using a small caliber (0.22 rimfire)
semi-automatic rifle.
There was a penetration of four bullets in
the skull in the frontal brain lobes, the other shots leading to
fractures of facial bones without entering the skull. A smallcaliber
bullet can involve the frontal lobes without producing
instantaneous incapacitation

Your title is misleading (as usual), it is NOT common in the UK and I doubt it is COMMON anywhere else! From you example (which you have mentioned before), it appears most of the shots didn't reach the skull and weren't lodged in the spine, rather they hit facial bone. People forget that the first shot to Sheila would have been fatal EVENTUALLY, so it wasn't just a graze. A shot to the spine would almost certainly have been incapacitating (as indicated by you OWN example above). Her jugular was also damaged so she would have been bleeding quite extensively (another reason for incapacitation). So how does she shoot herself again and have the rifle land in such a nice neat position where it says "I shot myself"? Coincidence? You don't believe in those!

Your own study suggests that Sheila would have been incapacitated and works against rather than for your argument!

Your selective reading fails once again. The first shot did not damage "essential centers in the CNS or upper cervical spinal cord" The bullet struck the posterior tubercle of the 4th vertebrae, that part does not cover the CNS.

Its a strawman argument to suggest the essential centers in the CNS were severed by the bullet anyway because that would have killed her instantly thus Jeremy would see no need to fire a second shot in the first place.

Academic. The first bullet WOULD have killed her but more slowly.

you too are very selective when it comes to the paths the bullets took and the angle one of them hit the bone.you trolled through the internet and come up with some nonsense trails about bullet paths which proves NOTHING sorry :)

I'm afraid scientific study takes precedence over things that you just make up. No matter how much you ignore it or refuse to believe it.

You're the one with selective reading

- the bullet damaged her jugular!!
