Jeremy always denied that you could lock the windows from the outside. Were they locked or banged to, or is this the same thing?

He could bang shut the window from outside so the inside catch fell into place.

He denied he knew about it. He couldn't deny it couldn't be done as there was such overwhelming evidence.

He admitted he could get in through different windows after forcing a lock from outside. Using a penknife. This would have been made easier after he had lossened the bathroom window with the found hacksaw, probably a few days earlier. He may not have needed to force entry if he had left the bathroom window open when visiting for supper a few hours earlier.
