Below are excerpts from messages I received from SH's older brother on 10th March 2014...

Simon even saw mum recently and told her all about the truth about the confession. We have access to all of these things but I don’t want a war or carry on with this stupidity, let my family and his friends say goodbye please I beg you. If it meant I don’t go then can you let everyone else? I don’t want to go down the solicitor and police route"

and then another text followed not long after;

I see you decided against seeing sense and being human. That’s fine with me and I’ll pas it all over to Selene at inquest. It’s a shame you has to play games. We only wanted to say goodbye to our simon. You never knew the real simon and you never will now. You did this and I blame you for his death.

Then on 30th April 2014 - here's another excerpt from another message from the younger brother:

"Well i see your still alive. why dont you do everyone a favour and go kill yourself. the only people who that will turn up to your funeral will be making sure your definately dead."

Hi Steve, sorry I'm not sure what you mean?
Why has the family blamed you for his death if I've read your drift correctly?

Guilt? projection? Who knows? I guess it had something to do with their ego defence mechanisms?

"The rationale behind that notion is that sometimes individuals unconsciously “project” onto others motivations, intentions, or actions that they actually harbor themselves but which they would feel far too unnerved or guilty about to acknowledge as their own."

That's interesting Stephanie. With reference to Jeremy Bamber he blamed his parents so much that "they had forfeited their right to live" for how they treated him. I don't see Sheila blaming anyone, however.

Hence why I'm also of the firm belief Bamber is guilty.. (Along with numerous other reasons)

"Perhaps no behavior which disordered characters are prone to displaying is more common than their tendency to blame others when they do something wrong. Confront them on something they did that was insensitive, inappropriate, hurtful, or even harmful, and you’ll find them playing the blame game — pinning the fault on someone or something else. You’ll often hear them claim that some person or circumstance made them do what they did instead of acknowledging that they had a choice about how to respond to the situation and failed to choose wisely.

"Sometimes the tactic of blaming can be quite subtle. By calling attention to a wide variety of contributing circumstances, a manipulator can effectively obscure his or her role in the creation of a problem. This “it wasn’t me” tactic is hard to detect when your attention is drawn to other “culprits” through this diversionary sleight of hand.

I've published a link to events following SH's death in custody, though it's not exhaustive...
