Neville and June were completely innocent. They had bought him a house and put a large tract of land in his name as well as making him 90% beneficiary in their wills.

Did they buy the house for Jeremy or was it a farm cottage they already owned?

I bet he did say at times he hated his parents - its considered a cool thing to say sometimes . She just embellished it.

It might be "cool" at 15/16, but we're talking about an adult man here, Jan.

She says she can understand him feeling like that about his parents. He felt annoyed by them, mis-treated and that he wasn't equal to Sheila......... So Julie can believe Jeremy's case for those feelings .

But Sheila and the twins were completely innocent.

Particularly the twins. What had they eve done to him? Or anyone.

That's my understanding of the comments.
Weird comments for all that, mat.  I know she was very young but it's worrying she thought anyone deserved to die. :-\

I thought they already owned it, Jane.  Didn't they as the former tenant to leave so Jeremy could move in?

Don't get me wrong, I agree completely that it is odd. It's strange in any respect. But for whatever reasons she believed he has gripes against his parents, rightly or wrongly, but didn't know see how he could have gripes against the twins or Sheila.

They owned it yeah, it wasn't bought for Jeremy, wasn't it discussed that Sheila may move in there?

Mat, a small, rented cottage tied to a job he hated, whilst Sheila lived in a lovely apartment in London, MAY have contributed to Jeremy's dissatisfaction. It's been suggested, here, that a conversation took place about moving Sheila and the boys into it, but like much else that's been put forward, there's NOTHING to back it up.

Yeah, exactly the point I was trying to make.  But I think some thought I was saying June and Ralph weren't innocent and deserved their fate....Of course I was speaking Jeremy's thoughts and certainyl not my own, I think your post eloquently explains mine.

Except that 'coincidently' his parents end up dead. Sorry, I don't know anyone who thinks/thought it was cool to say they hated their parents.

It depends where you live and who you mix with. I do know some who say it a lot but they don't mean it . ( not my children though, as far as I know)

Is there a specific location where people think it's cool to say they hate their parents? However, I'm sure if the parents of the people you know who 'say it a lot' ended up murdered, it might give you food for thought.

I believe Bamber was saying he hated his parents recently before the massacre

It's alright a 9 year old saying it, while sulking after a telling off. But a 24 year old man.

Children may not get on with their parents, and contact may become minimal once the child has grown up. However Bamber had to work for his parents and engage with Neville on a daily basis. It was Neville's farm so he would have told Bamber what to do. Despite working on WHF he told MM he had not spoken to June for years.

Bamber's own WS says there were discussions about Sheila moving into his cottage (TAC).
