There must have been some indication of GSR being there for them to have made up the excuse of handling kitchen utensils ? I'm pretty certain there wouldn't have been such utensils there that gave off aluminium and lead particles.

aluminium and lead were far more common in the 80s because now we know the dangers of lead

I'm well aware of that,but Sheila had been described as having been unresponsive that evening when June spoke on the phone to her sister,so do you imagine that Sheila suddenly sprung up and started washing pans and utensils.? Washing-up defies the whole object of her having had particles of GSR on her person as it would have washed off,yes ? Which means that she'd physically handled "something" in which gave off these particles.Try the rifle.

It's followed that all along,nugs. Hence the retained documents/files.There's something that EP doesn't want anyone to know about.
