i said he dident lie read the post.

I understood your post .

In retrospect when the alleged truth began to materialise he re-evaluated Jeremys behaviour  and to be honest I would imagine in the beginning he was too much in shock to consider any other alternative than the scenario that the police gave him. But he still reserved most criticism for June - which in fact was very honest because he could not exactly say he suspected Jeremy at all because he spent quite a bit  time with him and Julie in the first weeks .

I think his book is very honest .  I wish he had not criticised June to the extent he did because she is not here to give her side of the story - but he felt he had to clear Sheilas name - for the sake of his sons I imagine - so I am sure he had his justification.

Good post Jan, I haven't read all of Colin's book because I've been very busy lately but I'm sure he told the truth,  he had every right to tell his story as he saw it and he has always said it was part of the healing process for him.  I agree with you about June and I do think she carried the can for others as well as herself.

the only thing I do not understand ( which is mentioned in CAL book ) is that he said if he had realised the type of gun and the number of shots he would have been suspicious. ( so if it had been a shot gun he would not have been? ) But he did not seem to have a clue until Jeremy was arrested - but surely he knew the details of the shooting before then?  Mind you the family seemed to keep him out of their suspicions , so perhaps it did just not register .

I would think a shot gun is heavier and has a kick but one shot can kill whereas the rifle was lighter and smaller but in some ways required more skill to kill a person, I mean one lucky shot with a shot gun is far more likely to kill than with a .22 rifle.
Did Colin know anything about guns? I would doubt it, shouldn't think he'd ever had anything to do with them.

He may have seen photos or she may have spoken about the shoots she'd been on in the past?

I have always believed that Sheila would have known how to use guns. She grew up with them in her home on  a day to day basis m sure at some time she at least had a go, I cannot imagine she had never shot at targets with her father. :-\   On the other hand it's quite likely she had never used a .22 rifle.
The relatives did seem to have amnesia about any contact Sheila had with guns in the past.

He may have done but shotguns are very noisy for starters. Did he need quiet and stealth, three adults and two children would have been difficult to contain.
Would shotgun be heard in the cottages in the lane?  He needed to get away as quietly as possible. :-\
