OK...

times like this we all think "never destroy evidence, it should be kept etc etc" (for future analysis, advancements in technology blah blah blah.

Now, there are a couple of hundred murders per year, more serious crimes, and all sorts of terrorist investigations and the like...

On a practical level, there's a LOT of stuff to store. A lot of paperwork to file (or digitise), tapes, dna, prints, bullets, weapons, clothes, furniture! cars!....

Where the hell is it all going to be stored?
And who's going to pay for it?

I sound like I'm being facetious, but it's a serious question and consideration.
Do you want to pay more money in taxes for it? or give up some countryside to house it all in specialist warehouses / controlled environments?

How long should we keep it?
What about bodies?

helen smith immediately springs to mind when considering how long should bodies be kept, i know it was at her fathers insistence that her body was kept in a leeds hospital for over 30yrs.

Alas, no, and please don't send me off to find out... this one's bad enough!!!
There's two or three that fascinate me...

Moors Murders, Peter Sutcliffe and this... I can't take another!

Saddleworth here ;-)

Similar reasons for the interest.. I can remember the fear of not going out if you lived up north (seriously)

I'm 42 now, so was young then, but definitely remember "women never be out on your own at night" etc.

And of course the Moors Murders are still a huge thing here.

I haven't read the book... was it the gingerish lad, son of the blonde found on the field about 50 yards behind her house?

I am indeed... Wilma!
Her son was the spitting image.

I have a feeling he might have written a book, her certain appeared in a number of documentaries, as did a couple of survivors.

I struggle to accept there are no 'others'... perhaps earlier on. But a couple of previous 'possibles' have now been resolved, and they weren't him.

Anyway, get back on track! and stop distracting me with other plots and what have you.

I'm a busy man, busy busy busy solving the crimes other solvers cannot solve!
which reminds me, I must get my lycra sleuth suit back from the cleaners...

correct!!! he has written a couple of books, hes also a motivational speaker too. As for other victims, in my opinion he did more than he was charged with, keith halliwell (copper) reckons he murdered someone on the street where i live now.

anyway back to sleuthing!!!
