I was busy this weekend I didn't have time to watch it. I taped it on my DVR.  This is it online though:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNP5bA7ZcmA

I skipped to the end of it (which is 30 minutes in) and they said they would try to get the FBI to look into it to try helping her get some of her money back. They also said they would try to give her mental help. So I guess they got her to finally admit she was scammed and will try to help her to come to terms with it.

They have done numerous shows on people who fell to the Nigerian scams but none to this extent.

It appears they split shows in half into 2 parts to get you to watch the next day.

Aww  Thanks for this Scip....

The interesting part for me was that others from round the world were depositing money into her account for her to send on to him, meaning that the scam involved more than just Aaron and Kay.

Poor woman, it was so difficult for her to face up to it. I really hope that those that scammed her get caught.  She was in-love with this guy so now she is bereaved. A real shame. But,  these scammers prey on the vulnerable...B*****ds

I doubt they will because they are overseas and rarely do foreign governments go through the serious effort required.  Part of the reason why they have money deposited in other's accounts are because this way it is harder to trace the ultimate bank account the money ends up in.

I'm still amazed people fall for scams like this at all let alone to give away everything you own to a scammer.  In this instance she knew she was being scammed and continued to sell her house and give up everything she owns- an intelligent person would have contacted the authorities to try to set up a sting or something not just willingly give up the rest of your money.

Even odder is to say she fell in love with the scammer given very limited contact. She said she was not in love with her husband of 45 years but fell for him quickly after a few talks. The whole thing is so bizarre.

But another show about being scammed online had the same thing- women falling in love with a guy they never met and it turned out the guy was a lesbian who swiped some guy's photo and was posing as a man.  She didn't steal money just their hearts.  I don't know what the hell is wrong with people...

After 42 years of being married although she claimed it was loveless, I suspect she did have feelings for him and found it difficult to come to terms with the loss.  3 years later she must have found life very lonely and decided to look at dating again and being vulnerable she accepted the most outrageous scam  ever of love over the internet and telephone.

I believe everything is traceable to an extent.  I am trying to think of the name of a celebrity here in the UK who's family were repeatedly threatened over the net.

To cut a long story short. The IP address could not be traced, it had several proxy's and hosts.  But, the celebrity would not give in and found expert after expert to try and track down this mad person who was making threats to his wife and children.  The IP address came up as being from across the other side of the world using a host in Europe. The IPA was going round in a circle changing the IPA every time it hit a host making it impossible to find the original source. So what they did, instead of tracking the IPA they went for the host and by doing that they tracked down the original IPA right to his front door and arrested him and charged him.  If I remember his name I will be able to find the documentary and post it, it was very interesting in the way the abuser was traced.

She and other victims gave the guy access to their accounts. That means he didn't have to use an account in his real name.  That makes is much harder to trace who took the money.  They use proxies and the like as a matter of routine.  It is very time intensive to get them and most foreign governments do not care. There are reasons they operate out of countries like Nigeria.

The main way to stop it is to educate people but when you have people who refuse to face reality it means they will be successful.  It is bad enough to be cheated by someone you actually have met but to send vast sums to people you never even met is so absurd it signals real problems.

This was the celeb I was talking about. I think it was a Panorama special...but cannot find the documentary.
