In the event that the whole family were about to get shot Neville would have physically confronted Sheila and risked injury to himself. It's what a father/husband/grandfather would do.

That is what people claim. In real life women most often prove to be a lot braver than men when it comes to protecting others. Men protect themselves.

So that's why Neville didn't wake June and rang Jeremy.

I was talking in general, as that was what you were doing.

Sheila had a " thing " about phones, latterly,as she'd got it in her mind that they were bugged. In a statement by Freddie,he'd said that he was with Sheila when she rang her friend Tara to apologise for her mother dropping off a bible to her and during the conversation, the phone just went dead and Sheila went ballistic and began punching the wall and ranting about being bugged.
Because of this,I'm wondering if it had been Sheila who'd removed the phone from the bedroom so that nobody could ring for help, and it could quite possibly have been Sheila who hid the blue phone under the pile of magazines.

If Sheila had rang Tara from WHF,June could have been listening to the conversation before disabling the call by pulling out a socket.

The bedroom phone had already been moved to the kitchen by the time Pike picked up the splitter adapter and cordless phone on Monday August 5.

Sheila planned to have a crazy episode at 3am Wednesday morning so on Sunday or early Monday she relocated the bedroom phone and hid the kitchen phone?  That makes no sense.

Furthermore why would Jeremy lie claiming the kitchen phone broke and that the bedroom phone had to be used in place of it if Sheila were the one who had relocated the phones in anticipation of committing the murders instead of Jeremy doing so?  Jeremy also lied after the kitchen phone was found by claiming it was just an extra phone not the original kitchen phone.  Why would he lie other than if he was the one who hid it?

There was nothing unusual in finding the phones moved around. Even Jean Bouttell called them " musical phones ",as in musical chairs, the game, for she'd said you never could tell where any one phone was put from one day to the next.
Why on earth would Jeremy want to hide phones ? That's a lame excuse to use when it involves the murders of his family. Why bother hiding just one phone when it left 3/4 others to phone from ?
Afterall, there was still the upstairs office phone for those who were in the bedroom ? That was working. So why wouldn't Jeremy have disabled that one ?

lookout  if Jeremy had been moving phones around why did he not put them back  before he left.  I ask myself if Jeremy shot his family did he expect Ralph to die in the bedroom maybe Ralph getting to the kitchen was not planned and upset the plans somewhat.

Susan,I doubt if Neville ever got as far as the bedroom by the time he'd finished his chores. After supper and when Jeremy had left,Neville finished off in the fields, came in,took the dogs out as was his usual routine, returned, showered, and then I suppose after a " snifter " and cigarette, retired to bed, which by my reckoning ( during harvest-time ) would be around 1am.
There'd have been no need in him going upstairs,as he showered downstairs,I suppose because the boys were staying there at the time he didn't want to disturb them with the sound of running water.

I do think that Sheila clobbered her father as he came out of the shower and from there it began. The burn marks on the back of Neville were done with minus his top on,as it didn't show burn holes in the material. I honestly think that Sheila caught her father unawares and bashed him in the bathroom, causing the shower-head to come asunder.

Susan, yes,I think Neville was put out of action before he was shot. He'd have already been tired anyway and looking to go to bed,but that didn't become possible. I would have thought that June, along with the twins, were dead at this stage and could well have been during the time that Neville took the dogs out,so that it just left himself against a psychotic woman who wouldn't have known what she was doing anyway. During one of her episodes, she had no concept of her actions.

lookout what is puzzling me Scipio thinks Ralph received 4 shots in the bedroom whilst either lying down or sitting up but Alias said no blood was found on his side of the bed a total of 10 bullets was fired in the bedroom your scenario could work for either Sheila or Jeremy but the  bullets in the bedroom need to be explained :'(
