That's not necessarily a good thing for those who want to say the notes were created as lies to be used against Jeremy.  That would be a sign they were created for personal use and so no need to hide their feelings and no need to lie in such notes.

They still could have been mistaken in what they wrote but if they were writing them to give to others to use as evidence they would not want to include commentary on their dislike.

Historians like to look for signs in recollections of whether they were created for personal use or with an eye towards being provided to the public because there is a reason to lie if you have an eye towards public release.
You are correct in your thinking here scipio. Because a downright lie might be perceived as such. But a half truth or a truth told in a wrong way or in the wrong context, or even in such a way that an innocent expression or word may be made to seem more sinister than it really is?

It boils down to why they kept a journal or notes.  If someone keeps it for themselves they can be more honest and more telling.  Those creating something for public consumption will be careful in what they write and could even be writing something with the intention to give a false impression. If they were writing it for public consumption they would not have wanted to reveal their disdain for Sheila or Jeremy so it supports them creating such for their own private use.

How would the diaries become available to the public ? There was no internet in 1985.

I suppose RB could sell them to the press. He hasn't done this.  Surely this couldn't be done pre verdict. So really there was no benefit in lying in them.

As RB said, the police suggested he put his thoughts and actions down in diary form prior to compiling his WS. Perhaps this is procedure to help witnesses remember things.

Probably not, but everything he did is seen as suspicious and there is this continual kicking of the man by people who knew nothing of the 80's or even heard of Bamber beyond books they have hungrily devoured and who are half his age continually condemning him who even refuse to write to him. What is it with some people who find a kind of blood lust revelling in the crimes he is supposed to have committed. If he is guilty then he is in the right place. But to take some kind of pleasure in condemning him all the time speaks to me as if it is those same people who need psychiatric help.

Which raises the question, do those who engage in conversation with those who appear to take pleasure in condemning him require the same help?

It seems that we have evidence that RB notes were not written until Sept 7th but were a recollection of his thoughts at the time.

Anne Eaton however indicated she kept her card /not system from day one.Because she was asked shy she did not record the finding of the silencer on her card for that day.

AE's COLP statements are indeed very interesting. A pretty confused woman when tied in knots by her questionnaire.
What I will do some time is make a note of the " can't remembers " because there are a lot of them.
