Wonder why Bamber never had much support at trial from Character witnesses?

He would have had,in the form of written character references if they'd have been given to his defence.!

C'mon Lookout. You're surely not trying to say that no one bothered beyond that? Put yourself in the position of someone who could prevent an MoJ. I think you'd have gone to every newspaper you could find to make your voice heard in their defence -to let them know you hadn't turned your back on them.

Do you think it would have made a scrap of difference when it was made clear from EP's point of view, the relatives and the neighbouring villages plus the media of course who were all under the influences of these people, that" JB " was the one ?
Talk about using a sledgehammer to crack a walnut. How much of an impression do you honestly think it would have made ?

And would you have let any, of what you claim in the above, stand in the way of you getting justice for someone. You tell us you've mouthed of at consultants ET AL. Do you think you're the only one who'd do such for a cause you believe in? You're making excuses, Lookout. Since WHEN were you worried about making impressions?

It may interest you to know that until such time as his inappropriate behaviours raised eyebrows and caused people to rethink, most of the area appeared to be on his side.

Well there's a contradiction " most of the area appeared to be on his side ".Since when ? You've said yourself that those you know/speak to all believe him guilty. Weren't EP employed to go knocking on doors asking occupants if they knew him, then in the same breath telling them that " he'd murdered two little boys you know ".Known as putting words into people's mouths, that being the case who were they all going to believe ?
EP had been the picture of desperation.

Certainly, they/we do, now, but at the beginning, AND because of information given by Jeremy, MOST readily accepted that Sheila was responsible. Many started to squirm a little when Jeremy's behaviours caused them to have doubts. YES, EP, as part of their investigation did a door to door, just as they did in the Diane Jones case. I don't know from where you get the information that they told people "He's murdered two little boys you know" I can only believe it to be apocryphal, like much else that gets bandied about here.

I have already given my thoughts on this Adam; see previous posts/threads.

What support did Simon Hall have?

Why does it usually mean people like Bamber and Hanratty will never confess? I don't understand your reasoning.
Bit late for Hanratty, I think!!   ;D

I know nothing about the SH case.

But it seems he had a high profile and long term campaign protesting his innocence. With public support.

Just wondering what then made him change stance. New incriminating evidence or was changing stance going to get him parole quicker ?

It seems SH protested his innocence for 10 years. Supported by several people and his wife Stephanie.

All it says about the confession is that he confessed to the prison authorities.
