Do you think that BOTH girls would have kep up this charade for 26 years.

It is a bit unfair that only one was paid £25,000 for her story, but neither of them were prosecuted for the chequebook fraud, so there must have been some sort of deal.

Julie would have stuck to her story, because she had pocketed 25 grand. It follows surely the other girl would have had a change of heart, and retracted her story, unless ot course she got a cut of the money
I could be really out of kilter here, but looking at the video of the funeral of Julie comforting JB It maker me wonder who was the better actor. Remember at the time she alledgly knew that JB was the killer. At the very least it made her an accessery.

Well, yes!  But isn't that the point about her testimony?  Was it true?

What was Susan Battersby's story?

Sorry Kaldin, I think I've mixed up names of JB's 'girlfriends', but I read that one of Julie's friends confessed to her that she'd slept with JB whilst Julie was still seeing him.

You might have, or you might not have. I'm a bit confused about that as well.  ;D

I still don't understand why Julie mugford would get immunity if she went to the police herself surely once she had told the police her story and as you saw in the documentary there was more than one policeman interviewing her she would have had to give evidence in court anyway.  Why offer her anything at all ?

It's interesting if it was Susan battersby went to the police first because that was the person who carried out the well thought out cheque fraud on a number of shops.  I can imagine what was going on at White House Farm all the press around once mugford was dumped they  could hatched a plan to make lots more money stitching JB up.  Maybe Susan went in first to do the deal.  They were very dishonest and quite cocky going from shop to shop carrying out forgery and probably knew they could have gone to prison for the fraud but quite willing to take the risk

I knew of someone who was caught for the same thing in 1988, same sort of ammount of money and there was no criminal charges against her.

Julie Mugford has just put her guts on the line, she has named Matthew McDonald as a hired killer, she has made herself infamous/famous and at that time pretty unemployable. In her shoes i would want out of this country as quick as possible. She probably thought that selling her story was the only way she could see out of this nightmare.

I went to school with someone who is extremely famous and very nearly sold a naughty story about them to the News of the World. When you are desperate for money, people will do anything. I still find it odd that people on here judge evil Julie with so much contempt when no one knows what she was going through.

I think it's because she waited so long. If she had recoiled in horror as soon as Jeremy told her all that, she would come across as a much nicer person. The fact that she supported Jeremy at the funerals, went to see Colin Caffell - presumably to sympathise with him, drank champagne, and went on two holidays with Jeremy doesn't really do her any favours.

I am still waiting for one piece of exclusive information Julie had from Jeremy that he confided in her I haven't seen one and I will never believe that she was upstairs with JB and he was laughing about murdering 5 people and what a good actor he was.  I will never believe that. What single piece of evidence was there that he said anything about the murders

There's a list of people on here think JB is guilty so can I have that evidence please

That's not evidence that's ridiculous what prove is that you know exactly what I am talking about how the murderer got in and out the farm, car or bike, who died first etc

Waiting patiently but I expect a long wait?
