Has anybody read 'Helter Skelter'?  I did and couldn't put it down from the opening page to the last.  It was written by the prosecutor on the case, Vincent Bugliosi and is packed with photos of the protagonists.

No I have not read it. Seen loads of doc about the case though. Very clever man it appears.

Great book Patti.  Very well written and draws you in from the start when it sets the scene immediately prior to one set of the murders taking place.  It's a very eerie description.  It is a story of police blunders alongside the story of the commune at Spahn Ranch.  Where they all hung out was a deserted cowboy film studio.

Tex Wilson did the killing....I don't know much about him, apparently Charles Manson claims notoriety for the  murders..or does he?

He is one warped individual, but on saying that he managed to attract many followers based on his ecological beliefs...yeah lets save the world....Shame he did not save the unborn child to Sharon Tate and of course Sharon and the others that slaughtered at the hands of his followers who claim to have been that high on drugs they it took 5 years to come back to normality.

From what I've read, Manson was an opportunist.  An older man, institutionalised by the prison system and who then studied mind control / influencing techniques.  He used these techniques on young, impressionable hippies.  He is portrayed in the book as habouring a poisonous grudge against those whom he perceived as being the cultural elite of that time.  This apparently came about because of the rejection he experienced when trying to become a musician.  The allegation by Bugliosi is that he nurtured these young people over time, to the extent that those who had it somewhere within them to do bad deeds were made to do so in real life.  I think there was a culture of threat encouraged within the group and a pressure towards less keen members to conform.

And best about it the authorities are giving the thumbs up for them to marry,. Sorry, but I doubt it would be allowed in this Country....

I know this girl is 26 years old, but I do wish someone would help her, before it is too late. You can almost sense something bad will come of this. 

I was just wondering where her parents are in all this. She has had contact with Manson since she was 17.

The wedding is off apparently. It turns out that the only reason she wanted to marry him was so that she could display his body in death and gain plenty of dosh.  She has been quoted as saying that the marriage still might go ahead in the future. Hilarious!!!

I hope they get married - they kind of deserve each other! Put his dead body on display for money, what a nutcase!

Anyway, where have her parents been through all of this? She started seeing him when she was very young.
