how many of other crimnal cases statements witheld by pii certifacates i only know of one but are there any others.

 I would refer to diaries which police were " sitting on " in the case of Eddie Gilfoyle.
These diaries were VITAL as proof of the unsound mind of Eddies' late wife,but were hung on to for 16 years during the time that he was in prison.
It was still 2 years later that Eddie was let out of prison,in 2010,after serving 18 years. He was released with a gagging order at that time,which was eventually lifted,but sadly he still awaits to clear his name nearly 4 years on.

im trying to work if pii is unique to this case or if it happens more often.

No,a different set of circumstances in a way,but the diaries were still being withheld when the police knew that they'd be of value in securing his freedom. Needless to say,no heads have rolled or anything like that. I suppose all are reluctant to face the poor man.

evidence is often withheld by the police and cps but this is the only murder case where of heard of the home office withholding evidence.

Strange how a similar mindset should have come about in the womans' diaries,as I imagine Sheilas' written thoughts to have been,and that was of committing,or attempting suicide. Killing a child,or children,then committing suicide,as in Eddies' wifes' case.

Whose statements are being withheld?  The defense got the statements of all involved and police notebooks as well.

but a civel servant dident sighn an order making them secret for 30 years they did in this case what im wondering is why does it happen in other cases.

I really don't know the reason why it does happen,but to my mind it shouldn't anyway,because if an accused withholds evidence------it's curtains. One rule for one,etc etc. It's wrong,as there's a lot wrong with our justice system.
