Its quite simple - if he is guilty people have to justify his actions with some kind of deep psychological reason why he would commit such a crime , when apparently he could not even bring himself to shot a rabbit or show any sign of violence at all.

However if he is innocent it will be shown it all means absolutely nothing at all. Not a thing. I don't think he was a saint and I think he actually had generous parents and enjoyed himself before having to settle down on the farm, but his parents still could have supported him if he had decided to take another choice in his career. We will never know.

Could have. Would have. Might have. All can be applied to every character in the tragedy but it's all speculation. Some beyond ridiculous, some hitting the mark................but which is which? As you say, we will never know.

Going on holiday makes you a murderer.
Wearing good clothes makes you a murderer.
Having money in your pocket/wallet makes you a murderer.
Dyeing your hair makes you a murderer.
Not crying makes you a murderer.
Drinking champagne makes you a murderer.
Eating at the best restaurants/hotels makes you a murderer.
Having a " poof " ( RWB's words ) as a friend makes you a murderer.
Being adopted makes you a murderer.
Hating school makes you a murderer.
" Hating " your parents makes you a murderer.
Hating farming makes you a murderer.
Driving slowly makes you a murderer.
Joking after a funeral makes you a murderer.
Dilated pupils makes you a murderer.
Having a " posh " voice makes you a murderer.
Liking money makes you a murderer.
Hearing a choked laugh makes you a murderer.
Jealousy and envy of others makes you a murderer.
Hatred towards you of others makes you a murderer.
Telling the truth makes you a murderer.
Being assessed by a professional team, with negative results makes you a murderer.
Passing a polygraph test makes you a murderer.
Being an " ideal prisoner " after 30 years makes you a murderer.
Being suspicious of you makes you a murderer.
Continual scrutiny of you by others makes you a murderer.
Selling your OWN family's heirlooms makes you a murderer.
Having a bicycle outside your house makes you a murderer.
Having an old dog put to sleep makes you a murderer.
Arrogance and amorality makes you a murderer.
Breaking up with your girlfriend makes you a murderer.
Annoyance by others who couldn't get a confession makes you a murderer. ( EP )
Self-confidence makes you a murderer. ( being interrogated didn't faze Jeremy )

Just a few of the silly suggestions that have been put forward over the months/years.
There's a lot more to come as it has to be questioned why, during interrogating/goading/coaxing by the most experienced of officers, was there no sign of a break in Jeremy's answer to innocence ? EP would NOT have been kind during this time as even the old " die-hards " in the profession admitted to being bemused by his determination not to confess to anything. Jeremy was hard work to them and they were getting annoyed. Because no evidence had ever been found to pin the murders on Jeremy, they,EP had tried every verbal tactic in the book and still didn't come up with anything.
I suppose if Jeremy had cried,EP would have taken that as an admission of guilt ?

Why,during the questioning of the murders, does anyone think it was so difficult to have got a confession ?

I don't think anyone is saying Jeremy is a sadist who likes to inflict suffering. If he did kill the family, it wasn't for the thrill of killing - it was a means to an end - the end being financial gain. Not every killer has a history of animal cruelty.

None of the above would mean he was guilty but did attending Sunday school and church and adoring her pet poodle make Myra Hindley innocent?

Surely you've read Adam's posts,Caroline. ;D They're full of Jeremy-bashing connotations,as well as what I've written in that list.
The Boss suit ? Champagne/lobster meals/ Dyed hair only a day or two ago. They're in ALL Adam's posts.

Did he know that JM dyed her hair blonde before the trial,to disguise herself she'd said. ::)

Lookout, THAT is impossible. EVERY picture of Julie ever shown depicts a NATURALLY dark haired woman. Forgive me b eing EXTREMELY personal but one doesn't need to be an expert. One only has to look at her sideburns and what promises, in  later years, to become a moustache if not dealt with.

Precisely Jan. They have to emphasise everything he did as a child or as a young man as having an ulterior motive so they can make him look bad from the start in order to make his alleged crime appear possible. That is the reason they make everything that he did although normal appear abnormal. I don't know about you, but I find it hard enough figuring out why I do certain things let alone trying to discern what's going on in other people's minds? But apparently according to all these armchair psycologists it is comparatively easy. ;D

No it didn't. But the the things she did were also quite normal, which of course renders your list quite useless by your introduction of Myra Hindley..

No I agree - I am not saying that violence was a motive - but when people bring up strangling rats as proof that he had a violent streak , then it is obvious that some posters are implying that as a contributing factor.

No Grahame, not EASY, but because we have been given certain keys it makes the process easier. Naturally, it doesn't guarantee the answer but rather points the way to why certain points have been reached.

just to make it clear it is not all posters that use those things as justification of his guilt - it is a minority .

But their justification is often the families opinion of him.

Yes. Probably about as useless as the lengthier one about jeremy.
