according to Adam she got her friend to phone and tell all she knew -so not quite sure really?surely she would just be counted as a witness?

She was arrested in connection with a multiple murder.

She was not arrested. Jeremy had not even been arrested.

She approached the police, before the lab results of the silencer had been received.

well if that was true then surely there no reason to hold her would there.

she would of come back voluntarily.

It was Liz,who, unbeknown to JM,rang the police and told them that she,JM was withholding something so they were both arrested, along with MM, Jeremy and Brett Collins.

Who knows what went on there as because Liz did the ringing, she'd have to go as witness to that anyway. Apparently Liz herself had been out with Jeremy, which she also told JM. Some friend that was.  Because all of them knew each other, they'd have to be questioned,as each had an axe to grind.

but if she contacted them voluntarily it seems very strange from them to then arrest her.

not really the police to treat somone who was trying to help them.

This is what happens in case it had happened that it was a confession,if you see what I mean. Some people can't live with themselves if they hold something like this back, such as JM did originally. Because JM had told Liz her own personal thoughts about the murder,Liz acted on it,though JM hadn't admitted that it was Jeremy.
EP would have thought at the time that it was a " joint effort " between all of them and this is why they were all arrested.

so mugford can hardly be said tto be a willing witness to start with.

surely its pretty obvious that if riminton was involved she wouldn't have phoned them.

why was julie mugford detained by the police any ideas anybody.

Liz Rimington went to police indicating that Julie told her information that Julie did not provide to police when police had questioned her. The information at minimum showed Julie knew Jeremy killed his family.  But it also coudl potentially have meant she was involved.  She already didn't provide the information when they vountarily questioned her so why would they bother going to her house to voluntarily question her again?

They arrested her so she would have a motivation to talk.

They ended up letting her go not charging her which is what most people think of regarding an arrest.  We usually think of an arrest meaning someone "booked" for a crime and tha tis largely thanks to TV and literature. But the law considers it an arrest when you are detained and the significance is that your right to a lawyer and right to remain silent are implicated by such and you have to be told of such rights.

The main significance of how it played out is that Jeremy defenders protrary this a s a case of Julie running to police after being jilted to harm Jeremy.  In fact police went to her she didn't go to them and they went to her because a third party betrayed her confidence.

That sort of hurts the narrative Jeremy supporters would like to portray so it is not often admitted to or discussed.
