No it was not through...he was given some photographs by Wilkes to examine for his book. Robinson publishers paid for this in return....Herbert was of course a leading forensic blood spatter scientist at the time, but his time was limited and he did not know the full case history and I don't think he knew that poor Neville was shot in the main bedroom. He did not have access to all crime scene photographs either, but astonishingly enough his expertise is without question. If you know what I mean.
