Yes, something like that, but there's a cupboard which seems to be in the way of your partition.

It's a strange place to put a partition anyway really - right across a window.

I don't think I understand what you mean, what cupboard?

It's not that unusual, it happens quite often when refurbishing old houses and sub-dividing spaces.

This is the oldest part of the house (the red brick part), the main house containing the master bedroom and living/dining rooms (the gault brick part) is actually an extension.

Under the window there seems to be some kitchen units, and the partition seems to bump into one of them.

Also, I'm sure I can see a bit of the floor in an L shape.

Do you mean in that photo? In the forground on the right hand side?

If yes, then that's just the boxing in around the stairs, the gun cupboard is under the stairs but accessed from the office.

If not, then I'm still confused as to what you mean.

This is the gun cupboard from the office side. The door on the right is the same grey door as in the picture in your post.

Right I see what you mean. Yes it actually looks like the partition doesn't abut the window. It does a dog leg to avoid it (also seems to be a window in the dog leg partition behind the door).

Something like:

Just from an older time and higher perspective

is that a sky light in the roof of the main building?

There is a sky light in the little room in between the two bedrooms at the front I think.

There's an access hatch on the back to gain access to clear out the valley gutters, you can only get to it via the loft space.

I didn't think there was one on the front but I don't know for sure.
