Or he is innocent, does it not bother you one teenzy weenzy bit that he may be speakng the truth? Are there no grey areas? Do you never just for a second think you may be wrong?

For me there is a very slim chance he may be innocent. And the unluckiest man alive.

But I do not know why he has campaigned to have the Life Means Life ruling changed if he cannot benefit from it.

Or perhaps Jeremy is about to admit his guilt & show remorse ?

I think given the fate of victims such a perpetrator being kept in a secure environment with food, warmth, shelter, medical care and things to occupy themselves whether it be in recreation or in a cell is a pretty civilised response when compared to a death penalty.
Perpetrators are not sentenced to death in this country they are sentenced to being detained for a period of time which equates to a loss of some freedoms............ the freedom that is lost is the freedom others in society hopefully value enough such that the potential loss of such freedom becomes the deterrent in stopping us doing certain things like shooting children who remain asleep in bed.
I do agree, am just saying it does no harm to have debates on these things imo

Or perhaps Jeremy is about to admit his guilt ?

Why wouldn't he? Given that he received the whole life tariff? I don't find it strange that he was involved in the campaign. Even if he doesn't benefit from it.

Good question from Dave.

Jeremy was classed as a life means life prisoner in 1994. If the new rule meams these people can only get parole if they show remorse for their crime,  why did Jeremy campaign ? He refuses to admit guilt in the first place.

Perhaps it was to keep his case in the public eye & get publicity. Or as the relatives said 'he has nothing better to do'.

Personally speaking, if he IS guilty, I don't think he should get parole because he has never admitted his guilt and if he does so now, it would be hardly right to parole him on the basis of an admission this late in the day. If he is guilty and admits to being so - I think he would be looking at quite a few more years before he would even be considered for any kind of release. On the other hand, If innocent he will probably never get parole anyway because he has never admitted guilt so, unless there is some magic piece of evidence that clearly puts him outside of the murder scene, then he will probably never be released. The thing is, even if you take the silencer out of the equation (and it should be taken out!!), it still doesn't clear Jeremy but it does raise many more questions.

Caroline, I'm with you 100%. My feeling, sadly, is that guilty or innocent, he's probably there for the foreseeable future, if not longer, partly due to his non admission of guilt -and if he's innocent, why should he say otherwise- but MORE because the case is a political hot potato. I imagine potential Home Secretaries PRAY that nothing is found, be it corruption at high level or otherwise, which could force his release.

The establishment, because he knew enough to bring them down, forced Stephen Ward into a position where he committed suicide. All they have to do with Jeremy is make it impossible for him to get released.

I agree, he's been vilified in the press for years and no political party is going to want to be associated with his release. However, I am sure that IF there was a piece of SOUND evidence to clear him and it found it's way into the public domain, they would be jumping to blame each other, shouting 'inquiry' every few seconds and looking for a scapegoat!!

In my opinion I think Jeremy is telling the truth about some of the things that happened whilst at the same time being slightly economical with modified versions of the truth in other areas. For example Jeremy's story in relation to the timing and sequence of the telephone calls puts Jeremy in the frame but his story, for me, is not convincing enough to take him out of the frame. I think he made a fatal mistake in his version of events and actions surrounding the alleged telephone calls.

Other mistakes then followed.....

Soon after every newspaper in the country had front page headlines telling the nation 'Sheila had shot everyone and had then committed suicide'. All daily news TV programs on all TV channels had the same story. The whole country was being told from every respected and trusted source of news 'Sheila had shot everyone and then committed suicide'. A very powerful scenario to be dealt with and handled by a 24 year old. In such circumstances it is not inconceivable a youthful perpetrator without much experience in terms of the years of life would let the guard slip and start to make some mistakes whilst possibly believing in an 'I can do anything' mentality.

In my opinion the above contributed to big mistake number 2 which was not taking the keys to White House Farm when they were offered to Jeremy by the Police. It would have been much better for Jeremy to have taken the keys to White House Farm moved in in order to oversee the harvest and sort things out inside the house. A good few weeks later take a holiday as the Autumn starts to settle in. In such circumstances a silencer would never have been found and there would have not been any opportunity for any alleged collusions which according to Jeremy have since taken place.

Something like the releasing of Mike's alleged photograph of Sheila on the bed with a single gun shot wound to her neck.

Jeremy would be released and public opinion would change within a nano second.

Jeremy's game changing moment.

As we have all recently witnessed game changing moments do happen........ they have happened in the not too distant past in relation to the Hillsborough disaster, phone hacking and MPs expenses.

i agree absolutely.it was so perfectly planed.with so many obvious flaws.like also going on holiday just after the killing.and cheating on his girlfreind.some would say he was confident that julie would not dump him.or testifie.but the smart way would be to not cheat untill the money was dished out.by the lawyers.and asking your girlfreinds freind out in front of julie.if he was alledgedly that smart he would not have did this 24 year old or not.there are so many flaws.i doesnt make sence.
