For one reason or another, no sooner does Ann Eaton arrive home with the shotgun, than Peter Eaton after finding a spent cartridge inside it, decides that the wisest thing to do would be to return the shotgun and RAKER shotgun case back to the farmhouse straight away - which caused Ann Eaton to record in her notes, that Peter had returned the gun to the farmhouse that same night..

It wasn't until 10th August that relatives realized there were firearms and firearm accessories in the cupboard in the downstairs office, also some in the downstairs toilet, and the spiral stairs in the corner of the kitchen...

The oddest thing - a spent RAKER shotgun cartridge case, could not be linked as having been purchased by Ralph Bamber, and police believed that it was linked to a shotgun blast heard by a local resident (Smith), who told police that whilst out walking on the eve' of the shootings, how he had heard a solitary shotgun blast come from the vicinity of whf at some time between 9.30 - 10.15pm...

What is even more remarkable is that...

is that this shotgun was originally found inside the same gun cupboard where David Boutflour claims to have found the gun silencer, on 10th August...

Shot gun was found in the gun cupboard by police on 7th August, and stood up against the office wall..

Also, from enquiries made, police knew that Jeremy had left the farmhouse just before 9.30pm, and so they eliminted Jeremy as the shooter of the shotgun on the eve' of the shootings...

I suppose of course being night time when he returned the gun he didn't even think of searching the gun cupboard. If it had been me I would have just put the gun back and high tailed it out of there, knocking myself arse over tit going in. :-\

A shotgun in the cupboard of the downstairs office with Ralph and Sheila's fingerprints upon it, and the BSA air rifle recovered from the spiral stair which joined the main kitchen with the upstairs landing, which also had Ralphs and Sheila's fingerprints upon it, suggests that Sheila and Ralph handled weapons in different parts of the farmhouse...
