How was it possible, for three major attendees at the crime scene, to all refer to the position of Sheila's body, as being situated on the far side of the bed, when they first saw it?

(1) - PI 'Bob' Miller
(2) - Police surgeon, Dr Craig
(3) - DCI 'Taff' Jones...

Ann Eaton, was told by a police officer who had attended the crime scene on that first morning, that Sheila's body had been found upon the bed...

How strange, that the head of the first investigation (when the case was being treated as one of four murders and a suicide), DCI 'Taff' Jones, reports seeing Sheila's body on the far side of the bed...

The police surgeon, Dr Craig, saw Sheila's body on the far side of the bed, when he visited the main bedroom, and he pronounced Sheila as being dead, at 8;44am. DCI Jones, arrived at the scene at about 9;10am, and he reports seeing Sheila's body on the bed, some 25 minutes or so, after Craig had reportedly seen her body on the far side of the bed...

Hi Alias,

In the police logs, it is reported at 7;38am that "the body of one dead male, and the body of one dead female had been found upon entry to the kitchen". At 7;41am, a message was past for the "police surgeon, and coroners officer, to be contacted regarding two dead bodies". At just before 7;45am, a civilian employee who was working in the control room (Linda), contacted DS Davidson (SOC) at his home, and informed him that police at whf were dealing with a murder, and a suicide". By 8;10am, police inside the premises reported that a total of five dead persons had now been found, and that in addition to the two bodies already found downstairs, that a further three bodies had been found upstairs". Of course, no one could argue that these messages had not been passed, or even that it could possibly mean that the female body referred to, as found in the kitchen upon entry to the premises by the raid team, was that such a female might have been found on the bedroom floor. I believe that there can be no mistake either, in PI 'Bob' Miller, Dr Craig, or DCI Jones accounts, where they clearly report seeing Sheila's body on the far side of the bed...

If Sheila's body had been on the bedroom floor, when viewed by Miller, Craig, or Jones, it would have been the easiest thing in the world for any of them to simply say, "A female body, on the bedroom floor - but it doesn't...

In addition, the police officer who told Ann Eaton that Sheila's body had been found on top of the bed, with a bible on her chest, had arrived at the scene with DCI Jones (DS 'Stan' Jones) much later than them, so if PI 'Bob' Miller and Dr Craigs account (8;44am) about Sheila's body being on the far side of the bed, really meant that her body was on the bedroom floor, how does this explain, how by the time DS 'Stan' Jones visits the main bedroom, that Sheila's body was now on top of the bed with a bible on her chest?  The key to interpreting what was meant by all these persons saying they had seen Sheila's body on the far side of the bed, is to read between the lines, and ask yourself where Sheila's body had been when DS 'Stan' Jones viewed it?

On the bed, not on the floor...

By reference to the time line of reported events, Sheila's body had been reportedly found upon the bed, rather than on the floor...

Julie Mugford also reported that police had told her and Jeremy that Sheila's body had been found upon the bed, rather than the floor...

Surely, Miller, Craig, DCI Jones, DS Jones, Ann Eaton, Julie Mugford, could not all have got the facts wrong where Sheila's body had been found, on bed, or on floor?

Why do they all say Sheila's body was found on the floor...

I think he mentions in his notebook that he first saw a female with severe head injuries in the entrance of the door? With that in mind he also says that another female was seen on the far side of the bed. Now to me that sounds as if he is describing the scene that we already know from the official photographs? If it was to be consistent with Ann Eaton's notes it would have surely mentioned that the first woman was on the bed and not in the door entrance?

Hi Grahame,

By the time 'Bob' Miller, Dr Craig, DCI 'Taff' Jones, and DS 'Stan' Jones, arrived in the bedroom, Lets for arguments sake, say it was between 8;44am and 9;15am, by this stage, there was only one body downstairs, and four more bodies upstairs, so two bodies in the main bedroom, both female bodies. One female near to the bedroom doorway, and the other on the far side of the bed...

DS 'Stan' Jones, leaves the scene having viewed Sheila's body on the bed, goes to Jeremy's cottage, at 9 Head Street, Goldhanger, and tells all those that were present (Jeremy, Julie, Ann, David and Anthony) that Sheila was found on the bed, and that she had a bible on her chest...

Yes the Bible on chest seems to be a special emphasis. She must have been told that. But the "official" photos show the Bible beside Sheila on the floor.
