This is awful and it just goes to show that this sort of degrading dishonest coppers do to innocent people..It makes me physically sick....What a rubbish system not only the USA but here too....We live in 2013 not 1813....

God knows how many more there are like this poor guy and how many may have been executed

I don't believe in the death penalty for that reason and I can never get my head around an executioners life....God knows how many innocent people who have been put to death for something they did not do....

The stats for the USA is immense on convictions that been overturned..... Its truly sickening.

I suspect that if there had been a Krishna Maharaj forum claiming MOJ, the usual suspects from the patrician brigade and the bent cops appreciation society would have been a common presence, force-feeding the readership with a saturated paraphrasing of the U.S. prosecution's case.

On 24th April 2014, Judge William Thomas from the 11th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Miami ordered a full evidentiary hearing in Mr Maharaj’s case to consider issues of innocence, governmental suppression of favourable evidence, and perjury by prosecution witnesses. A date for the hearing has not yet been set.

I heard on the news recently that the above hearing is scheduled for tomorrow. Strangely, it's hard to find articles about this via web searches, but Clive Stafford Smith confirmed a few days ago that he has gone to the US for the hearing.
