Do you know what.? After all these months,,I've always thought of Alias's avatar as a " Jacobean/Dutch " Masterpiece.   Now that you've brought the avatar to my attention,,I've just got my magnifyer to get a proper look,,and hey-presto,it was a lovely lady of modern times.

There are times when I see what I want to see,,and I love art,and the arts,so have a penchant for Dutch masterpieces. Trouble is,,I've been so engrossed in the forum not to have noticed avatars.
So there you are,Alias,,,you're a Dutch Masterpiece.

Thanks, YOU LOVELY LADIES! Big hugs all around! That picture does look like a painting, it is the light from the lighttable I am sitting at, I think.

Hi tyler, must say Alias looks more like 'original' Cher rather than the freakin 67 year old recently spotted on tv with skin so tight her attempt at a smile caused me to fear it would tear.  ;D
I see your assumption it was a dutch master lookout, the mood deffiniely gives that impression. :)

Lookout, Good Morning :) It's really strange that you should say that because I too, never look at the avatar, which as a word, of itself is a whole new add on to my vocabulary. I have noticed Caronline's and Maggies's, presumably because as blonds, they stand out. I know that Susan has a thistle, but only because I miss her lovely roses. Other than that, like you, I have to get out a magnifying glass :D :D :D

Hi Ladies

I am going back to the Yorkshire Rose as Patti seems to think the thistle is a rose anyway.  I will speak to Roch when he is on as he takes care of my needs ;D ;D ;D

Alias, I too, get you and Tyler muddled and I have NO idea why. May I justuse this chance to say I hope you didn't suffer too much destruction during the storm. I understand that Denmark was hit pretty badly.

Good morning April...I'm so glad that I'm not alone with this " phenomenon " ;D
I suppose a good pair of reading glasses would solve my problem  ;D ;D ;D as my eyes haven't been tested for years and I still use the same reading glasses that I had in 2003.! Lucky,,I know,,but I don't see any deterioration in my eyesight,,even after years of " unknown " high blood-pressure.
However,,the magnifyer is a godsend at times,,especially reading some of the old letters/statements on here. ( back to Dickens's day )
As you say,,the blondies stand out,as does the thistle,,which doesn't mean to say it's of any detriment to Alias,,who,,now that I've studied, is another lovely lady.

Are you a designer or something? I used light tables when I was designing signs.

Tyler, how observant of you, (or was it your Alias) in noticing that No Bits was on post#666, when the StJude hurricane happened to blow in!
Sheer coincidence, I would have thought.
I reckon 'H' has gone into his retreat at Devil's Wood near Salcott cum Varley cross roads. It's only a broomstick throw from Yeltrah's beloved Jam factory at Tiptree.

The said retreat being "H's" natural abode!!!!!!!!!!!! Many years ago, when the great house to be known as Barn Hall was commissioned, the builders would return each morning to find destroyed their previous days work. Their forman decided to keep watch and at midnight the Devil..........or was it "H"?........appeared. The forman approached the, to use a Stevism, Personage, and enquired of him, very politely, what the H he thought he was doing. Said personage lifted the vast beam which was to be the main load bearer and threw it as if it wasn a toy, then were uttered those famous words which to this day cause locals to shudder "Where this beam shall fall, THERE build Barn Hall" The Hall was built where the beam, for ever bearing the claw marks of the Devils talons, came to rest. I am told the Hall no longer exists and as Campion says, it's all coincidence.................................isn't it!!!!!!!!!!!!

The falling beam reminds me of the three legs on the Manx flag :
Quocunque Jesseris Stabit.            Whichever way you throw me I stand. ;D

Are you talking about the Barn Hall Industrial Estate?
